I was privileged to attend the two fruitful days of the 5th African Association Summit organized by the Africa Society of Association Executives (AfSAE) held on 29th - 30th October at JNICC, Dar es Salaam. The summit offered a platform for learning, networking, and sharing best practices in association management. It was a rare opportunity to engage with experts and peers across Africa and beyond, exploring ground-breaking topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in association management and ensuring sustainability in the organization’s future. The theme was Leveraging Al (Artificial Intelligence) and Innovation in Association. There was an outstanding line-up of speakers sharing their experiences and insights, as well as industry experts from the USA, Singapore, Canada, and South Africa. I was among the lucky participants who received a certificate of recognition for valuable contributions to advancing innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in African associations. . CEO of Gevme

Africa has so much potential! I just had a very inspiring trip to Dar Es Salaam. I've been challenged on my thinking on many fronts. What's clear is there are many meaningful problems to be solved. I saw a young African generation that is just so eager to learn and make things better. Not just for themselves but for the society. See the notebooks on the table? That’s during an evening reception. That’s the eagerness to absorb as much as possible! Here’s a few stories about some (of the many) amazing people & future leaders I’ve met during my short trip: Dr Noni Tindigwe, MD is a 27 year old Doctor and he volunteers his time in a non-profit. He is already an avid user of ChatGPT & Gemini. He uses these tools to help in his healthcare research work - to do analysis of data. And as young as he is in his career, when I asked him how many years of experience he feels AI tools give him now, Noni says he feels like he’s has over a decade of experience with the wealth of readily accessible information and insights that he now has. Noni boldly describes himself on LinkedIn as: Visionary Trader; Future Billionnaire; Born Again Christian; Student of life; Medical Doctor Norah Urio is a young entrepreneur, a Cake Artist to be more precise. She bakes customised cakes for her customers and was eager to see how AI can help in her business. She just learnt how she can use Copilot for free to do ideation of unique cake concepts for her customers. And even have images generated and use it to brainstorm. Yohana Likindaanyu is the young Executive Director of “Hearts of Compassion Foundation”. And while many of us are euphoric about the potential of AI. He's concerned that the potential widening gap between the abled and disabled children will grow wider. My naive self initially thought that this won’t be the case - with tech like Neuralink and more. But the truth is these tech are not going to be affordable anytime soon. And in the meantime, we are going to see abled people get augmented at an accelerating pace with the help of AI. So, what will happen for those with disabilities? Will innovation lag for them? These are the future leaders in Africa! And there are others that are doing meaninful work. Jeffers Miruka & Gregg H. Talley, FASAE, CAE - I’d like to thank you for what you do; for nurturing the current & future talent. It's inspiring ❤️ Count on me on the next steps! And hopefully we can rope in some more folks along the way! #purpose #impact Genevieve Leclerc, CMP, CICE Lowell Aplebaum, EdD, FASAE, CAE, CPF Alexander Alles Glenton De Kock Frank Murangwa Mungai T.
