ER24 and Care for Wild Rhino have enjoyed a positive relationship since 2014, when Andrew Boden, founder of ER24 and former Mediclinic Related Business Executive, arranged for the sponsorship of vital supplies to help save orphaned rhinos. “Over the years, when an ER24 vehicle arrived at the gates, it was like Christmas,” highlights Care for Wild Founder and CEO Petronel Niewoudt. “The vehicle was stocked with drips, bandages and dressings for the numerous orphans in the organisation’s care. To this day, this relationship has continued.” In gratitude, following Andrew’s passing in 2021, Care for Wild promised a suitable tribute, and they have recently done so by naming their first-born critically endangered black rhino calf ‘Andy’. Petronel Niewoudt further adds, “Naming this little black rhino calf Andy feels like a fitting tribute to a man who left his heart with rhinos. Andrew’s support has been instrumental in getting us to where we are today. He helped us save countless rhino lives, and it’s an honour to name this beautiful and important calf after him.” We thank the team for their generous gesture as well as for their unwavering dedication to protecting wildlife.
