#RoadToTheAUWaterInvestmentSummit Over 70 representatives from fifteen African Union Member States have gathered in Addis Ababa, #Ethiopia for a training on African Union Guidelines for development of National Climate Resilient Water Investment Programmes. The training is part of the build-up to the 2025 AU-AIP Water Investment Summit which South Africa will host in the context of the G20 South Africa Presidency, and the 2026 UN Water Conference to be co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and Senegal. Minister of Water and Sanitation for South Africa, Hon. Pemmy Majodina officially opened the workshop stating that “this training is a steppingstone to the Africa Water Investment Summit and the 2026 UN Water Conference. This will help us mobile water investments and ensure the water agenda is elevated.” The official opening session was closed by Hon. Parks Tau, South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition who pledged support for the water sector considering the anchor function that water plays for all sectors. To achieve climate resilience and inclusive water security and sustainable sanitation in Africa, the African Union Commission is implementing the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme - AIP & the Green Climate Fund Readiness Support Initiative that seeks to strengthen capacities of Member States to prepare projects to access climate finance. The training in Addis Ababa has been convened by the African Union Commission, #Senegal, and #SouthAfrica in collaboration with the #AIP High-Level Panel on Water Investments hosted by Global Water Partnership Southern Africa. The event is financially supported by the EU Blue Africa Transboundary Water Management Programme funded by the European Union and #Germany through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
