  • 🚨Voter Registration Weekend🚨 The Electoral Commission will hold voter registration this weekend, Saturday, 22 February and Sunday, 23 February 2025 for municipal by-elections set to take place on Wednesday, 16 April 2025 in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Voting stations will open from 08h00 to 17h00 to allow all eligible voters to register and for current voters to provide/update address details where necessary. The Electoral Commission remind eligible voters to bring their identity document (ID) for registration, either a green barcoded ID book, a smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary ID Certificate. Eligible voters will be required to complete their physical home address on registration or provide sufficient particularities of their place of residence. Documented proof of address (e.g. a municipal account) is not required.   • 🚨MUNICIPAL BY-ELECTION NOTICE 🚨 The Electoral Commission will on Wednesday, 12 February 2025, hold municipal by-elections in the Eastern Cape and Kwa Zulu- Natal provinces. These by-elections will be contested by 11 political party candidates from 9political parties. Ward 10 in the Matatiele Municipality – EC441, will be contested by five candidates: 1. Gideon Mvuyisi Masela of the African National Congress (ANC). 2. Fundiswa Langa of the African Independent Congress (AIC). 3. Vuyani Achidiacan Mgijima of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). 4. Mandlenkosi Jacob Mahlehla of the Umkhonto Wesizwe (MKP). 5. Tembisile Mahlangu of the Truth and Solidarity Movement (TRUTH). -The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the councilor's death. Ward 15 in the uMhlabuyalingana Municipality – KZN271, will be contested by six candidates: 1. Kwenzile Bongumusa Mtembu of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). 2. Sithembiso Velenkosini Ngubane of the African National Congress (ANC). 3. Nkosinathi Sifiso Tembe of the National Freedom Party (NFP). 4. Promise Thandi Cele of the Abahlali Base Mkhanyakude Movement (ABMM). 5. Nkosingiphile Sibusiso Sithole of the African Economic Freedom (AEF). 6.
