SANEDI's Bhekani Ntuli from the Renewable Energy sub-programme proudly represented us at the IEEE Power Africa Conference 2024 on 10 November. By including the voices of young people, the session brought forward practical solutions including skills development initiatives such as the SOLTRAIN program, aimed at building capacity, enhancing resource accessibility, creating entrepreneurial opportunities, and fostering collaboration in the region. In the panel, the current state and future outlook for Africa’s coal-to-power market were examined. The discussion was centred around global shifts towards cleaner energy and the risk of coal power plants becoming stranded assets, leading to financial losses for investors.
