The Just Energy Transition (JET) in South Africa is a strategic initiative by the Presidency aimed at shifting the country’s energy system from being heavily reliant on coal to cleaner, renewable energy sources, while ensuring that the process is inclusive, equitable, and minimizes negative social and economic impacts. The Presidency has also received numerous pledges from international donors in support of South Africa’s JET. The JET Project Management Unit (JET PMU) – a unit created by the Presidency, to manage this process, has implemented the JET Funding Platform to enable projects around the country to be registered for this potential funding.
