🌾 Empowering Agripreneurs: GIZ Hands Over Training Program to the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development. 🌱📂 On December 3rd, 2024, the Global Project ‘Promotion of Agricultural Finance for Agri-Based Enterprises in Rural Areas’ (GP AgFin), funded by the German Ministry for Development Cooperation (BMZ) and implemented in partnership with Zambia’s Ministry of Agriculture, proudly handed over 10 USB drives and 1 printed copy of the Agricultural Business Analysis and Investment Training (AgBAIT) training material to the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED). 📂✨ AgBAIT, a training program developed during the course of the project, has been empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Zambia since 2018 by enhancing their skills in business and investment analysis and improving their access to financial services. Since February 2024, the GP AgFin project has collaborated with MSMED to deliver Training of Trainers sessions in AgBAIT, enabling 30 MSMED staff members from all 10 provinces of Zambia to become certified trainers. We are proud to announce that 17 of them earned official master trainer certification. 🎓👏 During the handover event, the Permanent Secretary of MSMED, Mrs. Subeta Mutelo, highlighted the importance of equipping agripreneurs with the right tools to grow sustainable businesses. Her inspiring remarks underscored the project’s mission to create lasting impact in Zambia’s agricultural and financial sectors. As the GP AgFin project approaches its conclusion in July 2025, we are thrilled that MSMED is anchoring AgBAIT into its internal structures. This ensures the programs lasting impact, enabling agripreneurs across Zambia to access tailored training and financial solutions, helping them analyze and grow their businesses sustainably. 🌱 This handover marks a landmark achievement for the project, symbolizing the continuity of its learnings and training. A huge thank you to the incredible MSMED team for their commitment and hard work! We can’t wait to see how this initiative transforms the agricultural sector in Zambia in the years to come. 👏 #GIZ #AgFin #AgBAIT #SustainableDevelopment #FinancialInclusion

  • Shaping Key Messages: Raising Awareness on the Vital Role of Forests On 10th December 2024, the Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems (SAFE) Project team members and its partners convened for a pivotal workshop, marking a key milestone in the journey of the SAFE project. The project is co-financed by the European Union Commission, the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, in partnership with Zambia’s Ministry of Green Economy and Environment and Ministry of Agriculture. A major focus of the project is conducting Awareness Raising Campaigns on the Importance of Forests in Mumbwa and Itezhi-Tezhi districts. These campaigns are designed to engage smallholder farmers, charcoal producers, Community Forestry Management Groups (CFMGs), school-going children, and the wider communities, fostering shared responsibility for forest conservation. At the workshop, technical experts from various line ministries came together to craft impactful messages for the campaigns. To ensure alignment with the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment’s Forestry Department, Forestry extension plan, a representative from the Forestry Department shared insights into their mandate and strategy. These awareness campaigns aim to inspire communities to take an active role in the preservation of their forests and emphasize the vital role forests play in our ecosystems and livelihoods. The campaigns will be creatively implemented in collaboration with Circus Zambia, leveraging art and performance to amplify the message. #AwarenessRaising #ForestEcosystemsMatter #CommunityEngagement #Collaboration #Sustainability #SAFEProject2024 🌿

💡Would you like to learn more about DUAL training in Zambia? A newly premiered short 📹video documentary highlights how Dual Vocational Education Training (VET) in 💧Water Supply and 🚰🚽Sanitation Operations (WSSO) is benefiting students, the industry and vocational training institutions in Zambia. • 🌍 Human Rights Day 2024: Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now 🌍 December 10 is International Human Rights Day. We are reminded that human rights are not just ideals for a distant future but urgent, pressing needs that must be upheld today. This year’s theme "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now" speaks to the immediate importance of safeguarding the rights of all individuals and creating a future grounded in justice, equality, and transparency.    The German European Union-funded programme, Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation and Transparency, EnACT stands firmly in the belief that the foundation of our future is built on respecting human rights for all. Every action we take today to protect these rights lays a firm foundation for a more just society tomorrow. At EnACT, we emphasize the need for accountability, active civic participation, and meaningful engagement to ensure that no one's rights are overlooked or violated.    More than 75 years after the world’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, most individuals still suffer the consequences of lack of respect for human rights. Injustice and other forms of human rights violations show their faces in most communities. EnACT and its network of state and non-state partners in Zambia works to promote human rights for all, partly through the promotion of access to justice.    Elliam Chomba, a 31-year-old trader was recently wrongfully arrested and charged with murder after being found with the mobile phone of a person who had been reported to be deceased. Despite explaining that the mobile phone in question had been left with Elliam as collateral for the loan that the owner of the phone had gotten from him, Elliam was arrested and spent five months in custody without any legal support. With his future full of uncertainty, Elliam’s fortunes changed when he came into contact with paralegal officers from the Prisoners Future Foundation who reviewed his case and provided legal aid. This action led to all his charges being dropped by the courts of law on account of insufficient evidence.    Access to justice for all especially the vulnerable women, children and persons with disabilities remains a fundamental principle of the rule of law and of the universal human rights.     HumanRightsDay #OurRightsOurFutureRightNow #EnACT #Accountability #Transparency #CivicEngagement #HumanRights #JusticeForAll #SocialJustice #Empowerment #FutureNow
