  • Good day, Yesterday, we hosted the annual Commercial Utilities’ Human Resource Forum with Human Resource personnel from all 11 service providers to interact and exchange knowledge and ideas on sector matters under the theme, “The Role of Human Resource in Responding to Emergencies.” The focus of this meeting was the HR’s role in responding to emergencies in the sector as well as interventions and strategic management.

  • NWASCO Strengthens Partnership for Improved School Sanitation and Water Awareness In a landmark event marking a strengthened collaboration, the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO) reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives in schools through a formal partnership with the Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association BORDA Zambia. Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), NWASCO Director Eng. Kelvin Chitumbo emphasized the organization’s dedication to improving school sanitation infrastructure, raising awareness on WASH issues, and supporting water quality interventions. “This partnership reflects our shared vision of building healthier, more resilient communities, especially for our youth,” he said. The partnership will focus on establishing and strengthening School WASH Clubs, fostering youth engagement through activities like the Battle of the Brains Competition, and participating in global and national WASH events such as World Water Day and World Toilet Day. Additionally, NWASCO and BORDA will collaborate on documenting best practices and supporting the nationwide Water Conservation Plan under the ongoing Drought Response Plan. Eng. Chitumbo expressed gratitude to BORDA for their dedication and shared vision, highlighting the potential for lasting impact through joint efforts. He called on all stakeholders to support the initiatives, noting that together, they could foster a culture of water conservation and sanitation that ensures sustainable development for Zambia's future. The event underscored NWASCO’s and BORDA Zambia’s proactive approach to ensuring safe water and sanitation access, reinforcing their roles as a key driver in Zambia's WASH sector.
