This reference gained fame when it appeared on George Lazenby’s wrist in the 1969 James Bond film. The auction also features the Patek Philippe Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 5208P, estimated at $700K–$1.1M USD. Crafted in platinum until 2018 (after which it was offered only in pink gold), this Grand Complication is among the most desirable and rarest of its kind, with only a few examples ever returning to public markets. Christie's "Rare Watches Including Watches for ELA" auction in Geneva achieved an impressive total of 20.64 million USD, with a 94.9% sell-through rate across 157 lots. Leading the sale was the Montres Breguet Perpetual Calendar, sold for 2.18 million USD. This wristwatch, Breguet no. 3218, is among the most important timepieces ever made by Breguet, and one of the single most important wristwatches ever made. Another standout was the ROLEX Oyster Perpetual "Stelline" Ref. 6062, which achieved 1.56 million USD. Sotheby's "Important Watches: Part I" auction in Geneva achieved 7.68 million USD with a 77.89% sell-through rate across 95 lots, featuring standout timepieces from Patek Philippe and ROLEX. The top highlight was the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 2499, which sold for 2.74 million USD. Launched in 1950 as the successor to the Ref. 1518, the 2499 was the only perpetual calendar chronograph for nearly three decades. This particular example is a rare second-series yellow gold model, one of only two known with a flat dial and moon phases. Also notable was the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Split-Seconds Chronograph Ref. 5004P-021, which achieved 260,366 USD, and the Rolex Daytona Ref. 6241, which sold for 246,663 USD.
