This one is close to our heart: BIRKENSTOCK enters a new chapter in Cologne and transforms the previous pop-up store into a permanent retail location.   The refreshed space reflects the essence of BIRKENSTOCK. Natural materials like cork and leather, central to our iconic footbeds, are featured throughout. Rounded edges and brutalist-inspired cork displays evoke the comfort and timeless design of our sandals, while warm tones create an inviting atmosphere. A highlight: The tactile leather wall and interactive focus area showcasing our products and rich history.   Cologne has been home to a significant part of our German team for several years, and with our headquarters close by, this location allows us to strengthen direct connections with our community in the region. The area also has historical relevance for BIRKENSTOCK: The close-by city of Bad Honnef housed the factory that produced the first sandals in the 1960s.   The Cologne store is now our 20th location in Germany, and we’re proud to have 35 stores across Europe. BIRKENSTOCK’s ‘WALK THIS WAY’ photo exhibition lands in Shanghai!   We’re marking our milestone of 250 years of shoemaking tradition with a special stop in Shanghai of our globally acclaimed photo exhibition. After captivating audiences in Tokyo, Paris, Sydney, New York, New Delhi, and London, the exhibition now opens its doors at the Zhangyuan pop-up store, offering a stunning visual journey through BIRKENSTOCK’s rich heritage and unwavering commitment to enabling 'walking as nature intended.'   Archival treasures, including original blueprints and early advertising materials, are featured alongside Henry Leutwyler's photos celebrating 250 years of craftsmanship. Visitors can also explore a curated history of the iconic footbed with a preview of the new collection and upcoming footbed innovation. Enhancing the experience, BIRKENSTOCK’s upcoming book series on 250 years of craftsmanship is showcased, offering an in-depth look at the brand’s storied history, cultural impact, and enduring commitment to quality and innovation.   The exhibition is open to the public from November 21, 2024, to January 15, 2025. This milestone marks the seventh company-owned retail store in the U.S., joining locations in New York City, Brooklyn, Venice Beach, Miami, Marin County, and Austin. The Boston store embodies BIRKENSTOCK’s 250-year legacy, blending heritage materials like cork, felt, and leather with a curated brand history area showcasing archival artifacts. Our guests were taken on a captivating journey through the legacy of the iconic BIRKENSTOCK footbed, showcasing its evolution and timeless design.   The evening featured the introduction of the newest iteration of this innovation: a replaceable footbed, allowing wearers to experience the unique BIRKENSTOCK feeling even in non-BIRKENSTOCK footwear. Set against the backdrop of a thoughtfully curated timeline installation, featuring original pieces from the BIRKENSTOCK Archive, attendees explored the rich history of orthopedic innovation that has shaped modern footwear. Hosted on the rooftop of JK Iguatemi, the event highlighted our commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation. Guests had the opportunity to explore exclusive pieces from our archives, including some of our most memorable designer collaborations, and preview captivating photography from the upcoming 'The Book of BIRKENSTOCK.'
