Elliot had the privilege of MCing at a consultation event last week on the Gold Coast, hosted by Gold Coast Primary Health Network and Gold Coast Health. The event, Building a Compassionate and Connected Gold Coast, brought together stakeholders to collaborate on updating the Joint Regional Plan. A big thank you to everyone involved for the opportunity to be part of this important work!

A lot of us have been thinking about impact recently, or rather how we can measure and showcase 'impact'. There is no 'right' answer to measuring your impact, just what is 'right' for your organisation. Let's take a look at six examples of impact measurement in the not-for-profit sector. A few years back, Flourish Australia embarked on a shift towards outcome measurement, building project logics at all levels. Their proposed Outcomes and Improvement framework aimed to be a central tool for monitoring, evaluating, and celebrating their outcomes. Flourish Australia ChildFund Australia has historically taken a structured approach to correlate individual program outcomes to organisation-wide impact measures. Their Monitoring and Evaluation Framework aimed to provide a solid infrastructure for their diverse programs. ChildFund Australia Taskforce Community Agency devised an organisation-level program logic to articulate how their diverse programs generated outcomes. Their Outcomes Framework showcased how individual programs contributed to the organisation's overarching impact goals. TaskForce Community Agency Open Minds prioritised client experience by conducting an organisation-wide survey, supported by case studies and anecdotes. Their approach captured a comprehensive view of client outcomes. Check their 2018 report for a glimpse. Open Minds Stride currently uses the Your Experience of Services (YES) tool for consistent data collection across their service offerings. The YES survey, created by the Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network, aids in improving services by capturing consumer experiences and impacts on their wellbeing. Stride Mental Health Mission Australia adopted the Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI) in the past to gather consistent indicators relevant to their service offering. Their Impact Measurement and Client Wellbeing Report detailed how diverse sources like ABS, HILDA, WHO, and PWI were utilised for exhaustive impact measurement. Last week we were down in Northern Sydney hosting insightful conversations on this question with staff from the Local Health District's Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Services alongside our pal Carrie Lumby. We encouraged all in the room to think about moments in their work where a more collaborative or participatory way of making some thing would have helped to make that thing better, then use that to explore what's needed to make that a more normal and comfortable part of people's practice. Thanks for having us along! ✨

📸 Nic and Elliot out and about at our friends at Wesley Mission Queensland. Over the last little while, we've been exploring together with a group of people working in Lived Experience workforce roles at WMQ what supports and guides their practice. Something we're always reminded in a process like this is the value that comes from any group who are aligned by their practice to come together, take a pause from the everyday stuff and really explore the shared meaning and intention of what they do ✨
