This endangered Brush-tailed Phascogale was spotted by our team when out spotlighting last night! Spotlighting is a key activity in our ongoing monitoring program as part of our Spring Plains Watershed Repair Pilot Project. It help us to assess mammal populations post the ecological restoration works at this Box-Ironbark forest. Citizen Scientists who joined in the spotlighting also had the thrill of seeing this adorable phascogale! Want to experience the enchantment of seeing our native wildlife at play and contribute to their survival as a Citizen Scientist? Psst... take a moment to check out these beautiful bird photos by our Ecologist, Dr. Christopher Pocknee. We've been busy conducting our annual bird surveys at Spring Plains Nature Conservation Reserve as part of our Watershed Repair Pilot Project at this Box-Ironbark forest. These surveys follow BirdLife Australia's systematic 2 ha/20 minute search guidelines and take place annually in Spring to inform us about how the bird community is responding to our interventions as part of this ambitious project. 🦜 If you're a bird buff and would like to get involved and help our ecologists complete these surveys, please feel free to get in touch! 🦜 We have a small number remaining to complete this month and will be repeating this monitoring again next Spring.
