The Council of Mayors (South East Queensland) was established as an independent political advocacy organisation. We represent the interests of one of Australia's fastest growing regions – South East Queensland. We are Australia’s largest regional advocacy organisation, representing the one in seven Australians who call SEQ home. The membership of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) consists of the 11 Mayors representing the Councils of SEQ: Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redland, Lockyer Valley, Noosa, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Toowoomba, Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast. With five out of the 10 largest Councils in Australia in SEQ, the region is no longer just a series of disparate geographic areas but a region that, in practical terms, functions as a single metropolitan area. Our mission is to consistently deliver better regional funding, policy and collaborative outcomes for the Mayors, Councils and communities of South East Queensland. The SEQ City Deal is investing in innovation infrastructure to accelerate the creation of future jobs. The $150 million SEQ Innovation Economy Fund will support capital projects to ignite innovation precincts to deliver more knowledge intensive jobs. With one in seven Australians residing in South East Queensland (SEQ) Green Urban Infrastructure is becoming a cornerstone for modern planning. The $20 million Green Urban Infrastructure project is part of the SEQ City Deal, a $1.8 billion partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ), which aims to improve the accessibility, prosperity, and liveability of the region. Green Urban Infrastructure projects will provide an opportunity to combat the effects of urban heat, improve air quality and promote healthy lifestyles. Eligible local governments can now submit their expressions of interest for projects that provide services to both the community and natural ecosystems. Expressions of Interest close 13 December. Following our MoU with WISK in 2022, this agreement between Wisk and Airservices Australia ensures a safe and sustainable entry into SEQ, while supporting the delivery of high-value jobs, access to medical services, connecting regional communities and further opportunities to enhance the long-term growth of the aviation industry in SEQ.

South East Queensland is set to benefit from $10 million in Australian Government funding for public art initiatives. The investment is part of the $1.8 billion SEQ partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ), which aims to improve the accessibility, prosperity and liveability of the region. Applicant guidelines have been released and eligible local governments across SEQ will be able to support artists creating public art and architecture projects that enhance the liveability of the region. The approved projects will enhance the quality of public spaces, contribute to a greater sense of community, and increase access to cultural experiences throughout the region. Exciting developments are on the way for our city! 📣 We’re proud to share that $55 million has been secured for 5 city-shaping projects under the SEQ City Deal Liveability Fund. 👏 These projects will not only enhance our city's liveability but also improve accessibility and connectivity for all.
