Councils across SEQ are at the forefront of managing our waterways and wetlands as the increased risk of natural disasters threatens to leave SEQ vulnerable and exposed. International RiverFoundation event, Olympic Rivers: Restoring Urban Waterways and Creating a Legacy for Future Generations, is an opportunity to hear from Benjamin RAIGNEAU, leader of the "baignade en Seine" project and responsible for the Seine's ecological transformation for the #Paris2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As we work together in the lead up to #Brisbane2032, it’s crucial we protect the health and build the resilience of South East Queensland’s catchments, waterways and Moreton Bay. 🇦🇺🇫🇷 Register now: https://lnkd.in/gy75Wq49
About us
The Council of Mayors (South East Queensland) was established as an independent political advocacy organisation. We represent the interests of one of Australia's fastest growing regions – South East Queensland. We are Australia’s largest regional advocacy organisation, representing the one in seven Australians who call SEQ home. The membership of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) consists of the 11 Mayors representing the Councils of SEQ: Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redland, Lockyer Valley, Noosa, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Toowoomba, Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast. With five out of the 10 largest Councils in Australia in SEQ, the region is no longer just a series of disparate geographic areas but a region that, in practical terms, functions as a single metropolitan area. Our mission is to consistently deliver better regional funding, policy and collaborative outcomes for the Mayors, Councils and communities of South East Queensland. This is achieved by: - Advocating for a better resourced SEQ region with world standard infrastructure to support economic development. - Influencing other levels of government to ensure that their policy and legislative positions support SEQ regional growth. - Collaborating in effective and innovative cooperative programs across the SEQ region. South East Queensland is growing fast and continuous investment of innovative technologies into the region is essential to position SEQ as a globally competitive region. Following our MoU with WISK in 2022, this agreement between Wisk and Airservices Australia ensures a safe and sustainable entry into SEQ, while supporting the delivery of high-value jobs, access to medical services, connecting regional communities and further opportunities to enhance the long-term growth of the aviation industry in SEQ.
We’re excited to announce that we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airservices Australia, a government-owned organization that provides air traffic management in Australia. 🎉 Together, we’ll evaluate and explore how autonomous aircraft can be integrated into the Australian national airspace. 🤝 Read more about the partnership here: https://lnkd.in/gpxWtkPb #MOU | #Autonomy | #AirTraffic
