Over the years, airport wayfinding has evolved significantly, shifting from a purely utilitarian approach, to one that places humans at its core. Reducing airport stress begins outside the terminal. Diadem delivered wayfinding solutions to enhance accessibility and create seamless experiences at Auckland Airport’s new transport hub. Transport Hub (TH01) is a brand-new facility which features over 320 metres of undercover kerbside drop-off and pick-up space for cars, buses, taxis, and rideshare vehicles. This was an ambitious endeavour for the airport. Diadem was engaged to develop new sign types, many requiring innovative engineering solutions due to their scale. Customised signage was essential to ensure effective communication across the high-traffic areas, providing clarity and https://lnkd.in/g3GFbXjj Auckland Airport #Airports #AAANC24 #Aviation #Travel #DiademAustralia #DiademNewZealand #Diadem #DiademAsia #Signage #Design #UserExperience #Wayfinding #Placemaking #Rebranding #DesignThinking #BrandedEnvironments #ExperienceDesign

Larger airports have started embracing the idea of placemaking. We now desire airports that embody the essence of our cities. When we step into an airport terminal, do we instinctively know that we’ve arrived. For Adelaide Airport, our team proposed several placemaking devices. These included rising and falling sun-like spheres, symbolising departure and arrival and a large overhead digital screen celebrating truly South Australian imagery. https://lnkd.in/gyvZEYWR #Airports #AAANC24 #Aviation #Travel #DiademAustralia #DiademNewZealand #Diadem #DiademAsia #Signage #Design #UserExperience #Wayfinding #Placemaking #Rebranding #DesignThinking #BrandedEnvironments #ExperienceDesign

Hamilton Airport is a gateway for New Zealand’s central North Island. A major development and rebrand necessitated a new direction for the signage and wayfinding. As with any airport wayfinding, breaking down the pathways of the traveller is the first step for Diadem. Understanding their needs at each stage of the journey to or from the plane ensures information is delivered intuitively. Diadem’s signage and wayfinding ensure the region’s visitors enjoy a smooth arrival and departure experience. https://lnkd.in/gVjxfnxV Hamilton Airport NZ #Airports #AAANC24 #Aviation #Travel #DiademAustralia #DiademNewZealand #Diadem #DiademAsia #Signage #Design #UserExperience #Wayfinding #Placemaking #Rebranding #DesignThinking #BrandedEnvironments #ExperienceDesign

Circularity conference, Sydney 26th and 27th of November 2024! I’ve been along for the last two years listening to innovators, leaders, and change makers speak about the redesign of systems for a more #circular and resilient world. After each conference I’ve left being inspired to put the learnings into practice, applying it to my industry, to advocate with diadem’s clients and work with suppliers implementing prototypes and building a host of successful case studies along the way. This year I’m stoked to be part of the panel speaking about "Unlocking Opportunity: Innovating for a Circular Economy”. Pretty much the last session on the Wednesday so please hang around and bring the energy! Looking forward to catching up with friends and colleagues, meeting new collaborators, and the take aways to implement into 2025.

The brief, utilize existing stock of antique flapper boards as placemaking elements that would elevate the experience of airport users, linking the city of Melbourne and its front door – the airport. As airports are constantly changing and evolving, our response required a singular idea – a narrative that tied the myriad possible expressions together – thematically and conceptually. A consistent, inimitable thread. #Airports #AAANC24 #Aviation #Travel #DiademAustralia #DiademNewZealand #Diadem #DiademAsia #Signage #Design #UserExperience #Wayfinding #Placemaking #Rebranding #DesignThinking #BrandedEnvironments #ExperienceDesign

We've hit the half-way mark of the Australian Airports Association national conference, and the diadem team have been having many fantastic conversations with a wide variety of our clients in the airport sector. Sara Irvine, one of our wonderful clients at the Queenstown Airport (ZQN), dropped by for a chat, which was great. Mark Janetzki and I have immersed in a few of the keynote / panel sessions, and have heard some amazing discussions and presentations. The industry is certainly moving forward at a rapid pace, and being here to be a part of the conversation is both key and rewarding. #AAANC24 Australian Airports Association #connecting #relationships #wayfinding #userexperience

Ahead of a major re-development, Adelaide Airport engaged Diadem to assess and give clarity to the user journey from entry through to international and domestic departures. Some of Adelaide Airport’s gates are ‘swing gates’, which alternate between international and domestic routes. After undergoing a critical assessment of the terminal, Diadem devised a digital solution. This meant Adelaide Airport could easily tailor sign messaging on a situational basis depending on user journeys. This outcome enabled users to navigate with minimal anxiety in an otherwise stressful environment. https://lnkd.in/gyvZEYWR Adelaide Airport Limited #Airports #AAANC24 #Aviation #Travel #DiademAustralia #DiademNewZealand #Diadem #DiademAsia #Signage #Design #UserExperience #Wayfinding #Placemaking #Rebranding #DesignThinking #BrandedEnvironments #ExperienceDesign
