How time flies! Last year I was just a graduate from Eynesbury College and invited as a graduation address for 2024 Graduation tonight! I shared my experience from how I struggled during COVID time, suffer from online session all the time, feeling isolated and depressed. Then reached out for helps from foundation program coordinator Simon Tanti and Student Learning Advisor Bronwen Tait for support, they were really concerned that I am about to gave up on myself luckily I did not, eventually College Councellor Ann Sherwell held weekly meeting with me and guided me through the darkness, she is really a lovely lady, using active listening and provide relevant supports whereas possible to guide me through darkness. After I came to Adelaide, I told myself that I will need to change everything, I became the first come and last go student of the class —- first come to preview and last to ask for extra homework. I tripled the score of the subject I failed. I came through dark time and I would like others to got through easily, so I tried my best to build a great class environment by picking up friends from airport, planned weekend activities together. Through organising process, I found myself really enjoys team management and leadership, that pushed me to take on the leadership and became a student leader. As a student who came through language, foundation and diploma course, I told new graduates do not be afraid to be different from others if you choose a different path from them. If you wish to get something, then just all in, in the end, you will not regret what you did because you tried your best. Failures happen, but accept it, learn from it and make yourself stronger. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Had a fantastic time taking our newly arrived international students on an excursion to Glenelg! We enjoyed a fun game of beach volleyball and shared some delicious fish and chips by the sea. It was a great way to welcome them to Adelaide and help them start building connections in their new home. Eynesbury College
