A leading not-for-profit environmental organisation committed to protecting our climate by restoring our forests.

About us

Greenfleet has delivered climate action for over 25 years. We plant native biodiverse forests to remove carbon emissions on behalf of our supporters and help fight the impacts of climate change. Since 1997, we have planted more than 11.2 million native trees across over 550 legally protected, biodiverse forests in Australia and New Zealand. Greenfleet forests address critical deforestation, capture carbon emissions to protect our climate, reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and restore habitat for wildlife, including many endangered species. Greenfleet is registered as a charity in Australia and eligible tax-deductible donations to Greenfleet have Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. By removing your carbon emissions or donating to Greenfleet, you are taking practical climate action. Together, we can grow our forests and grow climate hope.

  • Today is World Wildlife Day 🦘 By restoring and protecting Australia’s forests, Greenfleet is providing homes to some of our most unique wildlife. Each year on March 3, the United Nations World Wildlife Day celebrates the critical role native animals play in maintaining the earth’s biodiversity. Since 1997 we have restored habitat by planting over 11.2 million native trees across over 550 protected forests. The native wildlife that will benefit from our work includes: 🦜 endangered swift parrots in Victoria and NSW 🐨 endangered greater gliders and koalas in Queensland 🦎 collared delmas in southeast Queensland 🐨 Strzelecki koalas in South Gippsland, Victoria In 2024, Greenfleet restored around 460 hectares of legally protected koala habitat in Australia. This is vital to providing long-term homes and food sources to these iconic animals. We also discovered Strzelecki koalas residing in our Strzelecki Nature Link. This species is significant, as it descends from Victoria’s original koala gene pool and has not been translocated. Greenfleet protects our forests with an on-title legal agreement for up to 100 years, ensuring long-term, sustainable homes for our unique animals. • This Greenfleet forest is creating habitat for local birdlife! 🦜 Avoca is growing on Wiradjuri Country, north of Wagga Wagga in NSW and next to the Buddigower Nature Reserve. This region is known for its birdlife, and our restoration of this forest is supporting species moving through the area. More than 200 native wildlife species are known to inhabit Buddigower Nature Reserve near Avoca. These include birds such as the Shy Heathwren, Varied Sittella and Brown Treecreeper. Greenfleet's restoration also includes planting habitat for threatened species, such as the endangered Swift Parrot as it migrates along the east coast of Australia. Since 2013, Greenfleet has revegetated hundreds of hectares, creating a legally protected forest to support the habitat of these native species. Avoca is also delivering climate action and helping support the area's significant biodiversity values. Celebrating Women in Conservation Breakfast is a source of inspiration each year, especially when it can be hard to maintain hope in the face of parallel climate and biodiversity crises. Bringing together diverse groups from across the conservation space, we share in our joint commitment to protecting and restoring nature. Members of Greenfleet’s Board and team attended the event in Melbourne, hearing from incredible people working in conservation. Keynote speaker Teagan Shields (PhD) (pictured) is a proud Arabana descendant, working in the community engagement and environmental sector. She chairs the Federal Minister for Environment’s Indigenous Advisory Committee and is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Melbourne. Teagan reflected on the importance of deep engagement with First Nations people and respecting their wisdom in the work we all do. Her powerful message reminds us of the incredible knowledge Traditional Custodians hold and how their direct involvement in conservation benefits community, Country, and nature. Thanks to our hosts Bush Heritage Australia, Trust for Nature, Rachel Lowry and Corinne Proske for bringing together hundreds of likeminded people for another incredible event. #womeninconservation #climateaction #climatehope #collaboration #IWD2025 Annabel O'Neill Amanda Cornwall Dr Dominique Hes Rebecca Peake Jacqui Mier Jo Hitchin Janine Buesnel Florence Cuming

  • We are excited to show you the new large-scale, native revegetation projects we have planned for 2025! For over 27 years, we have been restoring nature and removing carbon. Each of these projects will be planted with local native species to deliver climate action and restore biodiversity on behalf of our supporters. As they grow, these forests will develop habitat to support some of our most vulnerable wildlife. This image shows one of our 2025 projects called Mountain View, located on Boonwurrung Country in South Gippsland. Some of our other upcoming projects this year include: 🌳 Cherry Avon, QLD on Yuggera Country 🌳 Haly Creek Road, QLD on Waka Waka Country 🌳 Ledcourt, VIC on Jardwadjali & Djabwurung Country 🌳 Three Cedars, NSW on Bundjalung Country 🌳 Three Chain Road, VIC on Woiwurrung Country 🌳 Yurol-Ringtail, QLD on Kabi Kabi Country Our projects in 2025 will add to the 11.2 million trees planted by Greenfleet since 1997. By legally protecting our forests for up to 100 years, we ensure this work is making a long-term and sustained impact. Greenfleet is proud to support local businesses like PRINTING WITH PURPOSE. This social enterprise has been supplying a wide array of printing and design needs for over 30 years. When we needed help branding our hi-vis vests, worn by supporters on our planting days, we were excited to work with them. Printing With Purpose (PWP) is an Aboriginal female owned and managed business, who have won Supply Nation‘s 2024 Registered Business of the Year award and Female-led Social Enterprise of the Year award. The quality of their work has been proven in our eyes, withstanding mud, wet weather and many machine washes, a truly durable print process! As well as printing on PPE clothing, they also supply large format printing, graphic design, signage and more. Greenfleet delivers climate action by removing carbon, restoring nature, and where possible advancing reconciliation, so we are proud to work with organisations like PWP that offer training and employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. • Meet the birds of Wurneet Laang Laang. 🐦 Once farmland, this South Gippsland property on Boonwurrung Country has been restored by Greenfleet since 2016. Over time, pasture has transformed into a flourishing native forest, bringing back incredible biodiversity. Over the years, Dr Cara Sambell has studied the changes in bird populations in this forest, highlighting how new forests like Wurneet Laang Laang support returning wildlife. 🌳 Spotted in her research was the grey shrike-thrush (pictured), a stunning resident of this rejuvenated forest. Known for its melodious calls, it thrives in woodlands and forests, hunting insects, spiders, and even bird eggs among logs and tree trunks. For nesting, it uses bark, plant fibres, and grasses, creating safe havens to raise its nestling. Projects like this demonstrate the critical role of restoring native forests in improving habitats and preserving biodiversity.🌱 Discover more about the birds of Wurneet Laang Laang, here: https://lnkd.in/ggzwC4-Q #GrowingHope #Biodiversity #NativeBirds #ClimateAction

  • Jeff’s Forest: an update Jeff Robinson's Sustainable Forest was planted in honour of a passionate sustainability advocate. It is growing on Jardwadjali & Djabwurung Country at Ledcourt, in Western Victoria. We’re pleased to confirm that Jeff’s Forest and the Ledcourt planting area were not directly impacted by the fires that raged through large parts of the Grampians this summer. The team have been on site and reported that the planting areas is doing well. Sadly, the impact of the fires on the surrounding ecological and cultural landscape will be significant. Conservative estimates indicate at least 110,000 hectares have burned in the Grampians this summer. These are the largest fires observed in this landscape for fifty years. With revegetation at the centre of Greenfleet’s work, we know that bushfires and extreme weather events are a reality in Australia and their impacts continue to be exacerbated by a changing climate. The long-term solution is building resilient native ecosystems, like those at Jeff’s Forest, which can regenerate in the face of these crises. While it can be challenging to maintain hope in the aftermath of devastating events such as bushfires, Greenfleet’s ongoing efforts to restore and protect our native forests are imperative to growing hope in the face of these crises. • These little seedlings are now 6 months old! 🌱 Some of our key supporters joined us last August to plant locally native trees. They spent the morning on Dharawal Country in NSW, growing climate hope by helping restore an endangered ecosystem. Our tree planting events give our supporters first-hand experience in restoring nature to remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere and promote biodiversity. We are fully funded by our supporters so our partnership with these companies is the foundation of the work we do. The teams planted 3,000 native trees to support the Sydney turpentine-ironbark forest ecological community, an ecosystem endangered by excessive land clearing. Local wildlife such as endangered koalas and grey-headed flying foxes will benefit as the grey gum (Eucalyptus paniculata) and turpentine (Syncarpia glomulifera) grow. Thank you to Sutherland Shire Council who helped deliver this event, and to Natural Areas Aboriginal Heritage Officer, Graham Avery for his Acknowledgement of Country and traditional smoking ceremony. Were you there? 🤚 Give us a shout out in the comments! Your business can join these and over 600 supporters and take climate action with Greenfleet: https://lnkd.in/gMF9b8hF #GrowingHope #Environment #HabitatRestoration #Sustainability #ClimateAction

  • Located on Waka Waka and Barunggam Country near Kingaroy, QLD, the forest at Wooden Hut has been planted on rich red volcanic soil. 🌱 By using the CSIRO-developed, government-approved Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM), Greenfleet tracks this forest’s incredible carbon sequestration. Over the next 100 years, this legally protected forest will capture more than 152,560 tonnes of carbon—equal to removing 35,481 cars from our roads for a year! The fertile soil and diverse tree species planted ensure enhanced photosynthesis and as the forest establishes, carbon-rich leaf litter will return valuable nutrients to the soil. While removing carbon, this forest will even more importantly deliver environmental outcomes like restoring habitat for wildlife, including endangered koalas.🌱 Learn more about Wooden Hut’s impact by visiting: https://lnkd.in/gVQ892Mc #GrowingHope #ClimateAction #Reforestation #Forest
