GLaWAC welcomes the report, tabled in parliament today, highlighting the enormous potential of Aboriginal communities to drive economic and environmental progress. On Gunaikurnai Country, we’ve always understood the strength of our people and culture in shaping a sustainable future. The Inquiry into Economic Self-Determination and Opportunities for First Nations Australians report reinforces what we’ve long believed: with the right tools and partnerships, mob can thrive as leaders in key areas like renewable energy and business development. The report’s recommendations provide a vital opportunity to acknowledge the economic contributions of Aboriginal communities, establish pathways for investment, and ensure our mob benefit from meaningful opportunities. We’re ready to keep leading from the front - protecting Country, growing opportunities for mob, and driving real outcomes for community. Find out more here: https://bit.ly/410heDD

We’re still buzzing from the success of the Deadly in Gippsland Expo last week! With over 400 people joining us in Moe, it was an amazing couple of days celebrating the strength and talent of Aboriginal businesses across the region. The Water Cleansing and Smoking Ceremonies both set the tone for meaningful connections, collaboration, and plenty of new opportunities at every turn. It was deadly to see so many mob showcasing their businesses and meeting with potential partners from government, corporate, and industry. A lot of people were surprised by just how many First Nations businesses are making their mark in such a diverse range of industries. It’s proof that Aboriginal businesses are thriving, and there's so much more to come. Big thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a special event. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue supporting local Indigenous businesses! #DeadlyInGippsland #IndigenousBusinessMonth #FirstNationsBusinesses #GippslandStrong #SupportingMob #AboriginalEntrepreneurship 📸 Harry McDonald

Such a thrill to be able to celebrate our Elders during Seniors Week! In the Valley, mob got together for a game or three of bingo and still had plenty of time for yarning and a good feed at Kernot Hall. And how good were Kevin's Lemon myrtle scones?! At Kalimna, Elders kicked back, listening to some great tunes with their mates and carers. Thank you to everyone who came out, it's a joy to be able to acknowledge the Elders in our community; you're our warriors, you've paved the way for us and we honour you. 📷 Harry McDonald, Paula Morrison & Shane O'Shanassy
