2025 - the year we're forced back into the office 😐 Several companies, like Amazon (a small company with only a couple of employees) are introducing policies that effectively pressure employees to return to the office full time - using words like "strongly encouraged" to mask the simple fact that if you don't, you'll be fired. Truly. Shocked but not surprised... Shocked because there is a bucket load of research tracking productivity levels, employee satisfaction, retention rates, mental health etc that was quickly set up when we were forced to wfh in 2020 - and the results seemed to be glaringly obvious that hyrbid / flexiblity works extremely well for everybody involved! Results like: 🤷♀️ Employees working from home two days a week are just as productive and likely to get promoted as those in the office full-time. 🤷♀️ Prolonged sitting in office environments has been linked to a 32% higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and a 16% higher risk of overall mortality. 🤷♀️ 81% of one Aussie survey said they would be more loyal to their employers if they had flexible work options 🤷♀️ Resignations fall by 33% among workers who shift to a hybrid schedule 🤷♀️ A Stanford economist and one of the leaders researching the wfh experience has found “The results are clear: Hybrid work is a win-win-win for employee productivity, performance, and retention” So... we don't get it. Why?

Values, experience, personalisation, and tech have massively shaped hiring strategies this year, but as we approach the end of the year (crazy!), we’re asking you: what is taking prime position in your hiring strategy for 2025? Building on one of these, or something completely different? #recruitmenttrends #hiringtrends #trends2025

Where would we be without you, Bec E.? From day one, you've brought your A-game – committed, knowledgeable, and absolutely determined on making sure every candidate is genuinely cared for. Currently embedded into REMONDIS Australia, they love you for your technical smarts, unstoppable work ethic, and your uncanny ability to fill even the trickiest roles. And here’s something we only found out at our last offsite: You are hands-down the best storyteller, with the driest, wittiest sense of humour. You had us in stitches, amazement and tears all at the same time. The world would be a better place with more people like you in it ❤️ Big cheers to you, Bec! So lucky to have you in the iP crew.

When it comes to writing job ads, every word counts. It’s about being clear, authentic, and avoiding empty phrases - because great employees are drawn to great employers who communicate what really matters. We've picked out a few buzzwords from job ads which are live on LinkedIn and Seek right now, broken down what the words actually mean, and have come up with (what we think) is a better alternative! 🔍 "Self-Starter" Translation: “We need someone who can take initiative without much guidance. But don’t worry, we’ll give you some direction... But then again, we probably won’t...” ✅ What we wish they’d say instead: “Autonomous but supported” “You’ll have loads of autonomy, but we’ll make sure you’re properly onboarded, trained and supported.” 🔍 "Demonstrated Experience" Translation: “Show us in your resume that you’ve done this before. Regardless of whether this is your skill set, if you haven't done it, we’ll pass on you.” ✅ What we wish they’d say instead: “Proven skills or transferable experience” “Ideally we're after someone who’s done this before, but we’re open to strong transferable skills too.” 🔍 "The Ability to Influence" Translation: “You'll spend precious time convincing leadership of your ideas and navigating tricky office politics. Enjoy.” ✅ What we wish they’d say instead: “Collaborative communication” “Your communication skills will be key to getting buy-in from the team and leadership, and we’ll value your input.” 🔍 "Strong Work Ethic" Translation: “We need someone who will happily go the extra mile, and more often than not, that means long hours.” ✅ What we wish they’d say instead: “Committed and balanced” “Respecting work-life balance helps our employees perform at their best.” 🔍 "Can-Do Attitude" Translation: “No task is too small or too big, and we need someone who’s willing to jump into anything with a positive mindset - even if it’s outside of the job description.” ✅ What we wish they’d say instead: “Flexible and adaptable with clear priorities” “We value flexibility, but we’ll be mindful of your core responsibilities and won’t overload you.” #JobAds #BuzzwordBingo #Hiring #Recruitment

“Yeah, I think we have a good workplace culture because employees seem happy”. A big part of knowing you have a great culture is by feeling it. You just seem to know, right? But what are the real indicators? What can you actually point your finger to which proves your culture is as strong as it seems? 👯 Your employees are team-oriented A clear sign of a healthy workplace culture is when employees prioritise team success over individual wins. A collective mindset fosters camaraderie and mutual support. 💬 Psychological safety exists In a psychologically safe environment, employees at every level can take risks, share ideas, and be their authentic selves without fear of being ridiculed or penalised. It’s where innovation happens because people feel safe to speak up and push boundaries. 🔄 Values and behaviour are aligned When what a company values is reflected in how people act, trust naturally develops. But when values and behaviour are misaligned, distrust and toxicity can easily take root. 🍯 High retention rates If your employees are sticking around, that’s a pretty clear indicator your culture is healthy. High retention rates often mean people feel valued, engaged, and like they’re growing with the company. 🏆 Growth and development are prioritised A thriving culture supports not only what employees do today but who they can become tomorrow. Encouraging growth through training, mentorship, and development opportunities shows that your company values long-term potential and is invested in its people’s future. What other indicators do you have? We'd love to hear how you measure workplace culture in your own environment. #workplaceculture #peopleandculture #emplpoyeevalue
