One of our key research focuses is developing and encouraging blue carbon projects, an important method of sequestering atmospheric carbon. Although in their infancy in Australia, blue carbon projects are a little further advanced in other locations. To learn more about the Foundation's blue carbon initiatives and the projects we're investing in alongside our partner Khaki Investments, please visit our website. https://lnkd.in/gsVnGAxZ #philanthropy #bluecarbon #research

We are proud to sponsor the Student Social Networking Night at the 2024 joint Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) and New Zealand Marine Sciences Society (NZMSS) conference. The event brings together marine scientists and managers from Australia, New Zealand, and the Indo-Pacific under the theme ‘Navigating Uncertainty for a Future Sustainable Ocean’. As part of the conference, the Student Social Networking Night provides the opportunity for students and potential mentors to connect and network in an informal setting. By helping students build their networks, we are investing in the future of marine conservation. https://lnkd.in/ghHDrqjY #MarineScience #AMSA #Philanthrophy #PostGrad #Networking

We are proud to support projects that help make a difference in marine conservation, whether that is through research, education or communication. That is why we are supporting White Rock, a documentary showing the devastation caused by long-spined sea urchins devouring Australia’s southern kelp forests - leaving nothing but white rock in their wake. The film follows fishers, Traditional Owners and scientists working together to help restore this ecosystem using in-water urchin control, First Nations management, habitat rehabilitation and emerging urchin industries. Presented by the Great Southern Reef Foundation, White Rock premieres in New York at the United Nations General Assembly in September, followed by an Australian tour to raise awareness of our Great Southern Reef. https://lnkd.in/gtBZE4KD Photos: Great Southern Reef Foundation #philanthrophy #MarineConservation #collaboration
