Exciting News from the Rangebank BESS Launch! On Tuesday, our Town Planning Manager, Louise, attended the launch of the Rangebank BESS in Melbourne's south-east. This groundbreaking project is one of Victoria’s largest batteries, delivering: - Boosted energy reliability for the state - Support for Victoria’s transition to renewable energy - Affordable electricity for local homes and businesses The 200MW, 400MWh battery, developed by Eku Energy and Shell Energy Australia, marks a major milestone in stabilising Victoria’s electrical supply by storing energy and discharging it during peak demand. As Minister for Energy & Resources Lily D’Ambrosio MP highlighted, "The Rangebank battery will have the storage capacity to power the equivalent of 80,000 Victorian homes for an hour during peak periods." We’re proud to have played a key role in this project! Our Town Planning team secured the planning approvals for the BESS, while our Engineering, Survey & Town Planning teams contributed to the development of the Rangebank Estate. 10 Year Greenfield Plan Event 2024 Last Tuesday, some of our Planners attended the 10 Year Greenfield Plan event held in Melbourne CBD. Our team found the session to be very insightful and they thought it was fantastic to hear that the Victorian Planning Authority is eager to facilitate industrial development and will seek to consider solutions that may vary from implemented Precinct Structure Plans otherwise known as PSP’s. This element impacts upon the solutions that KLM Spatial provided to clients, particularly as a firm that is involved heavily with the industry. The vocalised support for development is greatly reassuring for both consultants and clients alike. Our planners found it motivating to hear Stuart Moseley reference observing how other states operate and making constructive comparisons with the way our system functions here in Victoria. Project Update! We're thrilled to announce that the new Border Express Pty Ltd Distribution Centre in the Rangebank Estate, Cranbourne West, is now complete! Our planning team partnered with Dzine Construction Group to secure approvals for this significant project. This multi-disciplinary endeavour brought together our Planning, Engineering, Surveying, and Construction teams, who have worked alongside landowner, Steve Murphy, for over a decade to bring this estate to life. The completion of this building marks a milestone for this project, as the very first building in the Rangebank Estate! Lunch & Learn with Tonkin + Taylor! Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming David, Wendy and Richard from Tonkin + Taylor to our Scoresby office for a very informative Lunch & Learn session. They shared valuable geotechnical insights on urban wetlands and the effects of sodic and dispersive soils – a topic with wide-reaching impacts across all disciplines of KLM Spatial. Sodic and dispersive soils can have a major impact on a project from approval timeframes to building footings and construction costs. Understanding these soil challenges are essential for effective Land Development Intelligence. A huge thank you to David, Wendy and Richard for an engaging session. Project Update from KLM Spatial   Our team has been hard at work on an exciting project at 40 Greenhills Road, Pakenham! We're preparing an application to subdivide the land in accordance with the Precinct Structure Plan (PSP).   One unique aspect of this project involves a heritage place located on the site.
