Our CEO, Megan Callinan recently had the opportunity to meet with the Honourable Chris Minns, Premier of NSW to advocate for equity of access to health services for rural NSW through investment in sector-led workforce development initiatives. The NSW Government recently invested in Marathon Health’s Aboriginal Workforce Development Initiative which over the last 18 months has led to 29 First Nations people across three cohorts graduating with a qualification in health or community services, while they gained relevant work experience in their local community. Of the first two cohorts, 94% have secured ongoing employment relevant to their qualification and 80% remain living and working in Western NSW. We thank the NSW Government for their investment in this program and look forward to future investment focused on unlocking the potential health workforce within rural communities.

Congratulations to Annette Crothers for her appointment to the Australian Healthcare & Hospitals Association (AHHA) Board. Annette has been a Director of the Marathon Health Board since 2015. Her extensive clinical experience and insights from working in the rural healthcare sector will be a tremendous asset in supporting AHHA as they drive collective action across the healthcare system for reform that improves the health and wellbeing of Australians.
✨ AHHA Welcomes Two New Board Members ✨ At our 2024 AGM, we were pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Bartholomeusz, CEO of cohealth, and Annette Crothers, Chair and founding director of Marathon Health Australia, to the AHHA Board. Nicole and Annette bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to improving health outcomes across Australia. Nicole’s passion for social justice and health equity, combined with her extensive governance experience, makes her an invaluable addition. Annette’s 20+ years of expertise in clinical occupational therapy and policy development within NSW Health’s primary healthcare sector will be instrumental as we continue to focus on community-centred care. As Chair, she will guide our organisation to achieve our vision of empowering communities to thrive through equitable health and wellbeing services – regardless of where they live.
