About us

Petbarn is part of Greencross Limited, Australasia’s largest integrated consumer facing pet care company. At Petbarn, we believe that life is better with pets. We understand the feeling you get when your dog greets you at the door or the warmth of your cat curled up on your lap. At Petbarn we know the unconditional love that pets bring to our everyday lives. So, we’ve dedicated ourselves to serving pet passionate people and their pets. For us, it’s more about the joy of watching your fish, than it is cleaning the tank! In our eyes, the world is a better place with animals and we take the welfare of all animals very seriously. At Petbarn, we pride ourselves on the commitment we’ve made to pets by actively supporting pet adoptions through various charitable shelters and organisations. Our team members, whether located within our stores, grooming salons, or the Support Office, are pet passionate, caring, and knowledgeable. We genuinely strive to provide our customers with the best products, services and advice to care for their pets and be great pet parents.

  • We are excited announce the launch of the Petbarn App and PetAI—a significant milestone in our mission to make the world a happier place through the love of pets. These two innovations represent the best of what we stand for: a deep understanding of the bond between pets and their families, combined with our commitment to delivering seamless, integrated pet health and wellness. By bringing together the strengths of our ecosystem—Petbarn, Greencross Vets, Animal Referral and Emergency Network (AREN) and more—the Petbarn App sets a new standard in how we support pet parents across Australia. The Petbarn App, an Australian first in pet wellness, is designed to support pet parents at every stage of their pet’s life. It simplifies access to services like booking appointments across our Greencross Vet network, scheduling a grooming appointment, setting parasite prevention reminders, shopping for essentials, tracking orders and managing your account. It’s not just a tool—it’s a trusted partner in ensuring pets live healthier, happier lives. At the forefront of this launch is PetAI, an Australian-first innovation built in partnership with Microsoft. Our teams are known for the great advice we offer pet parents in our stores, clinics and hospitals. Now, using leading AI technology, PetAI provides pet parents with access to our expert guidance, available anytime, anywhere. From advice on feeding and wellness to grooming and beyond, PetAI complements the incredible work of our retail team members, clinic teams, and hospital staff who deliver exceptional advice and care every day. As Australia’s leading pet care company, we strive to go above and beyond for pet parents—whether in-store, online, or through our veterinary clinics and hospitals. This launch marks the next step in our mission: leveraging leading technology to reimagine pet care, making it smarter, simpler and more personalised than ever. Together, we’re building a better world for pets and their parents, driven by the love that connects us all. Love them back with a single app. Download the Petbarn App now. #PetbarnApp #GreencrossVets #ForTheLoveOfPets #Innovation #Teamwork #PetCare

Did you know Garfield was adopted? It’s true! 🐱   In celebration of The Garfield Movie, the Petbarn Foundation is teaming up with the world's most iconic cat on a mission to lower euthanasia rates and pair every cat and kitten with their forever family.    To date, Petbarn in-store adoptions have saved more than 70,000 animals, and this month, we're hoping to clear the shelters and find loving homes for hundreds more with ‘The Garfield Effect’.

  • Our last story for the day is from Valerie, who started her journey at Petbarn 11 years ago. From working as a casual while pursuing her degree to now leading an online Hub store in QLD, her career path is truly inspiring. Wishing a Happy International Women's Day to all the amazing women at Petbarn and beyond. Valerie Verma, Manager at Petbarn Macgregor. ⬇️ "I started with Petbarn around 11 years ago. Little did I know that it would be such a rewarding career! When I first started, I worked as a casual and paid my way through Uni. I was able to obtain my degree debt free. This is an achievement I'm quite proud of.  After graduating I moved up to a management role and have never looked back. I love helping people be their best self. I'm a bubbly person by nature and leadership comes naturally to me as I can connect with people easily. I think that's why I'm able to handle change and thrive during challenging times. Over the last decade, my career has been filled with many amazing opportunities:   I have travelled across Australia for store refits meeting so many inspiring people in the process.   I have covered Brisbane South Area Manager role several times.    I worked for Database Department (I only had a 3-week crash course).   I carried out retail store audits in QLD.   Currently, I'm leading 1 of the only 2 online Hub stores in QLD. Challenging but extremely rewarding".

  • Our second International Women’s Day story is from Abbey Traine, our Contact Centre Manager at Head Office. 💛 Since making the leap from Tasmania to Sydney, Abbey has never looked back and has worked her way up the career ladder to where she is today. ⬇️ Abbey-Joy Traine, Contact Center Manager at Petbarn Head Office. "In 2014, I made a bold move from Tasmania to Sydney. Walking into a Petbarn store in Penrith, I seized the moment and inquired about potential job openings. That simple act of initiative led to an interview later that day, and before I knew it, I found myself stepping into a casual role that swiftly transformed into a permanent full-time position.   My journey within Petbarn began on the sales floor, where I honed my skills and immersed myself in the dynamic retail environment for about 12 months. Recognising my potential, I was offered a remarkable opportunity to join the Customer Service team at the Chatswood head office. At the outset, our team comprised only four members, communicating with customers through traditional channels like Outlook and desk phones.   Over the course of three transformative years, I experienced an immediate rise within the organisation. From Senior Coordinator to Supervisor, I embraced each new role with determination and enthusiasm. My tenure was marked by the successful execution of numerous projects aimed at enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency within the Customer Service division.   It was a pivotal moment when I assumed the role of Contact Centre Manager, entrusted with the responsibility of driving team growth and optimizing productivity. I spearheaded initiatives such as implementing a cutting-edge ticketing system, introducing live chat support, and elevating overall customer sentiment through strategic interventions.   Reflecting on my journey as a female leader, I've learned invaluable lessons about the power of self-trust and the importance of a supportive network. Surrounding yourself with confident allies can make all the difference in navigating the complexities of leadership and driving meaningful change. I'm incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful and supportive partner named Melissa, who shares my passion for women in business and continually uplifts and encourages me. Together, we're a dynamic team committed to breaking barriers and achieving our goals. Our journey is further enriched by our two little furry children, Cletus and Rudy, who remind us daily of the joy and love that fuels our drive for success".

Happy International Women's Day! 💛 This year, we're embracing the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress." Join us in celebrating the remarkable women who lead the way at Petbarn, driving positive change and making a paw-sitive impact, starting with Kate Ross – one of our Petbarn Store Manager who has been on a remarkable journey to get to where she is today! ⬇️ Katie R., Manager at Petbarn Rosebery. "I joined Petbarn Bondi as Assistant Manager in September 2021. By April 2022, I progressed to Manager of Petbarn Narrabeen. In February 2023, I had the opportunity to build and become the manager of Petbarn Surry Hills, followed by building and managing Petbarn Rosebery in October 2023. During my time at Petbarn, I helped coordinate Flynn's walk in 2022 and 2023, won Store Manager of the Year for 2023, and was a finalist for the 'Exceptional Customer Experience' Award for 2023. I also helped coordinate and run the Grand Openings for Surry Hills, Rosebery, and Marrickville. Additionally, I contributed to refurbishing/building Bondi, Hornsby, Charmhaven, East Maitland, and Marrickville. I had the opportunity to be a part of social media 'PetBreak' ads/videos and helped create our new 'Customer Commitments,' filming videos for training purposes. One highlight of my career was being #1 in Voice of the Customer for Petbarn in FY23. I also trained new and upcoming managers and assisted team members in progressing into other aspects of Petbarn, such as Grooming. I wouldn’t be able to do this without the incredible female leaders in this business – Vivienne Walker & Sally Leigh. They are big inspirations in my professional career".
