We are pleased to share a significant milestone at Robina Town Centre, where our coworking partner WOTSO FlexSpace has achieved 80 per cent occupancy in just 12 months—the fastest-growing site in its entire network. This impressive result validates our strategic vision of dynamic, round-the-clock destinations that serve our communities in multiple ways. By bringing together retail, essential services and workplace solutions, we are fostering new patterns of activity and engagement throughout the town centre.   The successful integration of a flexible workspace operator into the centre is meeting a crucial market need, particularly for small and micro businesses seeking office accommodation of less than 50sqm. Users benefit from doorstep access to public transport as well as retail and lifestyle amenities—a winning combination that is driving the highest yield of any WOTSO location in Queensland.   At QIC, we are proud to be at the forefront of reimagining shopping centres as multidimensional hubs that support economic growth and create value for businesses and communities alike. #mixeduse #futureofwork #urbandevelopment https://lnkd.in/gwuYxrTM

Congratulations to Nathan Maroon on receiving a Highly Commended distinction from the judges of this year’s Shopping Centre Council of Australia Frank Lowy Fellowship, recognising his breakthrough work in retail analytics for QIC and the wider industry. This achievement follows his Innovation Award win at the recent SCCA Marketing Awards. Tackling one of retail’s most persistent challenges—accurately measuring the impact of marketing campaigns on foot traffic and sales—Nathan developed a digital solution that integrates Google Store Visits data with spending analytics. Now actively sharing the mechanics of this new attribution model with peers, he is helping to elevate measurement capabilities and optimise marketing investments across our sector. #RetailInnovation #MarTech #FrankLowy

Creating safe and welcoming retail destinations remains a critical focus for QIC Real Estate. Last week Stephen Dewaele joined experts in venue and event management at marcus evans Group's Public Venue Safety and Security Conference in Sydney. Against a backdrop of heightened industry awareness, the forum emphasised the importance of continuous innovation in threat detection and preparedness.   Contributing to a panel discussion on evolving security frameworks, Dewaele shared insights about how major retail precincts can maintain their position as dynamic social hubs while implementing sophisticated safety measures. He commented: "By participating in industry forums like this and continuously enhancing our security protocols, we ensure our centres remain places where communities can gather and connect with confidence. It's about finding the right balance between creating welcoming spaces and maintaining world-class safety standards."   The three-day conference brought together security experts, crowd management consultants and commercial real estate operators to discuss discuss emerging security technologies, real-time monitoring systems, and design approaches that balance safety with customer experience.   #PublicVenueSafetySecurity #CommunitySpace #RetailRealEstate

Making history at the Shopping Centre Council of Australia (SCCA) Marketing Awards, an extraordinary night of recognition saw QIC secure the prestigious Campaign of the Year title for a third consecutive year. Our portfolio marketing team, led by Kelly McGufficke, clinched the coveted Sabina Rust Memorial Prize for the 'It's Not Rocket Science' edutainment series that saw interactive wonderlands installed at 11 shopping centres across the country. The space-themed activation also triumphed in the Compelling Experiences (multi-centre) category for its transformation of retail spaces into dynamic learning environments, which captivated young minds during National Science Week. Further wins showcased our team's creative breadth, with the Merry Everything campaign spearheaded by Holly Howell and Charlotte Hall claiming the Retail Marketing (multi-centre) Award, and Nathan Maroon's new marketing attribution model earning the Innovation Award. Grand Central's 'Colours of Culture' program, steered by Georgina Bayly, collected the Community (large centres) Award for its exemplary NAIDOC Week celebration. This comprehensive initiative combined First Nations workshops in arts, culture and dance with Elder-led cooking sessions, generating community support and directly supporting Indigenous suppliers. Adding to this distinguished performance, Eastland received commendations as runner-up in both the Compelling Experiences and Brand & Partnerships categories for large centres. Bronwyn Cooper commented: “These accolades reflect QIC Real Estate's leadership in advancing retail innovation and community engagement. They stand as a testament to our team members whose vision and dedication continue to elevate industry standards and enhance the visitor experience across our portfolio.” #RetailMarketingExcellence #CommunityImpact #SCCAMarketingAwards CC Delphine Richard, Ashlee Hume, Tiffany Ellul, Hayley Coote, Emma Heinceslater, Jodie Murphy, Emma Porcaro, Jacinta Bonsak🌱

Canberra's culinary scene reaches new heights this week with the grand opening of Carlotta, the eagerly awaited Mediterranean-inspired restaurant by acclaimed restaurateur Christopher Lucas. This milestone not only marks Lucas' inaugural venture in the nation's capital but also underscores QIC's enduring commitment to enhancing the economic vibrancy and gastronomic excellence of Canberra's CBD.   Nestled in the heart of Canberra Centre on Scotts Crossing, Carlotta stands as both an exciting addition for local diners and a catalyst for innovation within the city's hospitality sector. The ongoing partnership between LUCAS Restaurants and QIC Real Estate – which originated in 2020 with a collection of three landmark restaurants at 80 Collins – exemplifies a shared vision for Canberra's culinary future. The collaboration aims to redefine perceptions and draw discerning diners from across the territory. Demonstrating further confidence in Canberra's dining potential, a second yet-to-be-named bistro will land on Bunda Street in mid-2025.   Luke Young said: "The investment from such esteemed partners reaffirms our long-term strategy to elevate Canberra's premium and experiential food and beverage offerings, positioning the city as a magnet for both locals and visitors, day and night."    When Raku opened in 2017, the multi-award-winning Japanese restaurant exemplified Canberra Centre's potential to become the capital's premier dining destination. This momentum continued with the introduction of another chef-driven concept, Inka, in 2021, followed by the Tiger Lane food precinct curated by Shaun Presland in 2022.   Young added: "We've diligently worked to keep pace with the refined palates of modern Canberrans. By focusing on attracting experience-led partners, we're transforming one of Australia's earliest malls into a dynamic urban playground befitting a world-class CBD."   #CanberraDining #EconomicDevelopment #GastronomicDestination

We are proud to announce the launch Job Connect+, an online platform designed to address year-round staffing challenges in retail and hospitality. This Australian-first initiative is now live across 17 of our shopping centre websites, including Canberra Centre, Eastland and Castle Towers, in time for the pre-Christmas hiring period. The new tool centralises employment opportunities, offering local residents easy access to full-time, part-time and casual roles at their nearest QIC shopping centre. With more than 270 job openings listed at launch, QIC aims to foster growth across brands ranging from SMEs to national retailers. Stephen Dewaele said: “With the retail sector being one of Australia’s biggest employers, QIC centres have a unique capacity to nurture the economic heartbeat of our communities. Through an always-on tool like Job Connect+ we can give community members a constant bridge to potential employers, help partners to cultivate robust talent pipelines, and do our part to ensure the retail workforce remains strong, adaptable and connected." Last week QIC proudly supported the 2024 PropConnex National Real Estate Competition in Sydney. The annual event hosted student teams from a number of Australasian universities, each presenting innovative solutions to a property investment scenario before a judging panel of industry leaders including QIC’s own Briar Dowsett and Jacinta Mills (née Goutama), and chaired by Jonathan Johnstone.   In preparation for the competition, Sajanie Tennekoon, Kirsten Newman (née Steffensen), Erin Clark and Tom Brindle mentored the The University of Queensland team to help arm them with an industry-ready skillset. Although the team did not advance to the international finals, the judges unanimously praised the exceptional talent and creativity on display.   Briar Dowsett remarked: “Mentoring these promising young professionals reaffirms the bright future of our industry. Their innovative approaches and eagerness to learn from seasoned experts underscore the dynamic opportunities in real estate, and the team at QIC looks forward to working alongside these rising stars."   #RealEstateCareers #Employability #TalentDevelopment

Having won Campaign Of The Year for two years running, QIC is thrilled to return to the Shopping Centre Council of Australia Marketing Awards shortlist in 2024 with as many as seven nominations. While we await the results next month, we offer congratulations and thanks to Emma Heinceslater, Jodie Murphy, Emma Porcaro, Jacinta Bonsak🌱, Georgina Bayly, Holly Howell, Delphine Richard, Ashlee Hume, Tiffany Ellul, Hayley Coote, Kelly McGufficke, Nathan Maroon and the wider QIC marketing team for their dedication to making our centres such dynamic and engaging destinations.   Among the 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 & 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 award finalists is Eastland’s Live Site campaign, which brought screenings of live sport, athlete meet and greets, kids’ entertainment, market stalls and giveaways to Ringwood Town Square for five outdoor events that helped generate substantial incremental sales as well as a record net promoter score for the centre.    Eastland also appears on the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 shortlist in the large centre category for its two-week 𝘒𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘶 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢 activation, which attracted close to 10,000 visitors during the April school holidays. Our space-themed ‘It’s Not Rocket Science’ campaign, meanwhile, is nominated in the multi-centre category for appealing to young families during National Science Week in August. In connection with this touring pop-up, Eastland’s ‘School of Rockets’ competition secured a 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 award nomination for welcoming local student groups to the centre. To win, ‘School of Rockets’ has to beat Grand Central’s ‘Colours of Culture’ edutainment program, which engaged First Nations enterprises to host cooking workshops, dance performances and mural art during NAIDOC Week.   As for 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 on a national scale, our Merry Everything campaign spanning 18 properties is up for the multi-centre award. Beyond catalysing online browsing and on-site sales, the festive campaign added more than 80,000 customers to QIC’s database. Our new model for measuring in-centre marketing success, which combines Google store visit data with customer spend analytics, has also been acknowledged with an 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 award nomination.   #RetailMarketingExcellence #CommunityImpact #SCCAMarketingAwards
