Last week, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia and Toyota Finance Australia celebrated International Day for People with Disability. We hosted a live event streamed across our major sites to highlight our commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace. Our special guest, comedian and content creator Loz Booth, shared inspiring stories and practical advice on how to be an ally to colleagues with disabilities. Together, we're taking steps to build a confident, disability-inclusive organisation.

About us
Welcome to Toyota Finance Australia (TFA). Toyota is a recognised brand in Australia, so you probably know something about us already. Maybe you or someone you know drives a Toyota or Lexus? What you might not know is that we are Australia’s largest automotive financier or that we were the first finance company Toyota established out of Japan back in 1982. In Australia there are two separate Toyota businesses; Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) in Melbourne, and Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) with headquarters in Sydney. While we work closely together, TMCA focuses on vehicles and here at Toyota Finance Australia our priority is to provide finance, insurance and fleet management services. Our national presence is one of the reasons why we are successful in Australia. Most Australians, including those working in the outback and far north of the country, have access to TFA through our regional offices and local Toyota dealers. With over 30 years' experience in the Australian market, an extensive network of regional offices and as a leader within the worldwide Toyota Financial Services group, we pride ourselves in listening to and understanding our customers. Alongside our Retail, Finance & Insurance and Toyota Fleet Management streams, there are opportunities in our organisation across all functions you would expect in a large company from Human Resources to Information Technology, Corporate Services, Marketing, Risk and Legal, Audit & Compliance, and our National Customer Solutions Centre – that responds to 400,000 customer phone calls each year and aims to deliver a positive experience for each one. We are continually adapting to meet the future needs of customers, so we have a keen focus on new business development and we’re driving a large transformation program.

Last week we hosted our biggest ever One Toyota Women’s Conference, with the theme of ‘Thrive: Inspiring Progress Together’. We had an amazing range of inspirational speakers throughout the day and were privileged to welcome to the stage, Dr Kate Sieck, Alison Shamir, Jelena Dokic, Kimberly Cockrell and Heather Box. Breakout room speakers Dr Joel Pearson, Canna Campbell and Lizzie Williamson, also helped to motivate our teammates. We also heard from three empowering leaders within our dealership network - Tegan Blockey, Julie Watson and Tracey DeCoster in a fireside chat hosted by Toyota Australia Vice President John Pappas. The day was a significant milestone for our continued journey towards inclusivity for all and strengthening gender equality.

To mark this year’s annual NAIDOC Week, we had the privilege of hearing from Eddie Betts. Eddie shared his inspiring life journey - from his early AFL days and the highs and lows of his footy career, to writing educational children's books that have since been adapted by Netflix. His powerful discussion on Aboriginal voices in media and leadership and the barriers faced by First Nations children, shed light on the important mission of the The Eddie Betts Foundation. The theme for NAIDOC Week 2024, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud’, celebrates the strength and vitality of First Nations culture and identity. Yesterday we had the honour of welcoming SisterWorks Inc. to our Scoresby office as part of Refugee Week. This week is an annual event in Australia dedicated to promoting greater awareness about refugees, the challenges they face and celebrating the contributions refugees are making to the Australian community. To show our support, we invited SisterWorks to bring their store to life through a stall in our operations centre in Victoria. The stall featured homewares, jewellery, food, and more. SisterWorks is a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting refugee, migrant and asylum-seeking women through work and entrepreneurship. We thoroughly enjoyed their visit. If you’d like to support SisterWorks, please check out their online store: https://lnkd.in/dv7Z7nJ6 #RefugeeWeek #SisterWorks #toyotafinanceaustralia

Supporting Remote First Nations schools. At Toyota Finance Australia we are committed to driving reconciliation, both within our organisation and through contributing and showing support to First Nations communities. As part of our reconciliation action program, we are supporting remote First Nations schools with new laptops. Our first partner school is Luurpna Catholic School in the remote Wirrimanu Aboriginal Community in Western Australia, where we have provided over sixty laptops. It’s been fantastic to receive updates from the school Principal on the meaningful impact the laptops have made - being used in the classroom, with families at home and for the adult digital training programs run by the school. We are continuing to work on the ongoing expansion of the program and supporting other remote Indigenous community schools.
