Over the course of two weeks, 13 incredible trade volunteers worked in collaboration with Mimal Land Management (Mimal), IWSH Foundation (International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation) and the #ReeceFoundation, to install four rainwater tanks, a water treatment solution to access bore water on site, and kilometres of water infrastructure to provide safe, reliable drinking water to the Mimal Ranger Base. The water solution was co-designed with Mimal to ensure it met the needs of the community and supported the ambitions of their Healthy Country Plan. Visiting #AustralianManufacturers who make quality new products, out of #recycled materials is a truly fun part of my job. Vinidex is one of these companies, producing #pipe systems in facilities around the country, including #Smithfield, NSW. #Vinidex manufactures pipes using a variety of plastics, such as #HDPE, #PVC, and #Polypropylene (#PP). Great to see their commitment to increasing #recycledcontent in their products across all polymer types. Here at the Smithfield facility, the plant has been reconfigured to incorporate more recycled plastics into production. They create PVC and PP pipes for applications across infrastructure, agriculture, mining and heavy industry. Thanks to Mark Finney and Wendy Allen for the excellent tour! Really good to see the onsite #recycling plant, and even more so to hear about Vinidex’s ambitious #sustainability goals, achieving over 90% landfill avoidance in their operations, while also supporting #circularity in the products they manufacture.

This week is National Water Week (21-27 October) and we’re joining the Australian Water Association in spotlighting the importance of our world’s most valuable resource.
