Building powerline infrastructure at an operational mine site was made easier with innovative new drone technology by Infravision. With the pulling capability of a traditional helicopter stringing process, drone powerline stringing is safer, faster, more efficient and has fewer environmental impacts. #Yurika Project Manager, Mitch Turner was excited to find the first use of drone stringing saved time and labour and was a safe and unobtrusive process that overcame steep, rocky terrain. “We pride ourselves on innovation and doing what we can to make the work we do safer for everyone. “We used the drones to string 12 long spans of overhead conductor and attach line safety markers - it was an absolute game-changer,” he said. Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton has begun its transition to a Clean Energy Hub with the Stanwell Battery Energy Storage System (#BESS) due to be commissioned in December 2026. At 300MW and four hours' storage duration, it is the largest of its kind in construction in Queensland. #Yurika and our contract partners are hard at work this week with civil works to prepare the site. Our job is to design, supply, install and commission a BESS and associated Balance of Plant (BOP) connecting to the Powerlink Queensland Stanwell Substation. We’ve hit the ground running with civil works, getting the site ready for a 275/33kV substation, 33kV yard containing a whopping 324 Tesla Megapack 2XL batteries, MV transformers, 33kV ring main units and 33kV reticulation. On completion, the project will generate enough to power the equivalent of 203,000 homes. Stanwell Corporation Limited Adam Arnott

The #Yurika team making great progress at Swanbank BESS for CleanCo Queensland.

I was recently onsite with the Yurika site team at our CleanCo Queensland Swanbank #BESS project. We are all in this #energy transformation together and what a great example of #transformation this project is, converting the site of a former coal fired power station to a new #renewable energy site. The changes since my first visit to the site are significant, and it was a proud moment to see the great work the #engineering team have been doing be converted into the built environment by the site crews; a wonderfully symbiotic relationship. Building high voltage powerlines can be a challenging business, so we’re always looking for new and better ways to work safely. We’ve recently used some amazing new robot line spacers at our Clarke Creek Wind Farm project, which means this work can be done remotely from the ground. Fully remote controlled, the robot is sent up and down the lines to install spacers, keeping the individual powerline cables at a safe distance from each other to prevent contact. This is a world first innovation, and the first time the CSR-TWIN has successfully completed an installation of the PLP Twin Lok spacer. Credit to FulcrumAir and PLP for working across the industry to develop such an innovative new product that make it safer for our people and contractors to do their work efficiently. Thanks to Travis Jacklin and the #Yurika Transmission Team for always looking for a safer, better way. Squadron Energy Tim Page

We're big fans of MATES in Energy and their training is a critical part of the way we aim to create a mentally healthy workplace. Take a moment today to check in with a mate, it might make all the difference.
🌏 International Men’s Day 2024 is a chance to shine a light on the challenges many men face — from mental health struggles to homelessness, violence, and suicide. It’s also a time to celebrate the strength of Positive Male Role Models, this year’s theme. 💪 At MATES, we know the importance of having someone in your corner. This International Men’s Day, let’s have honest conversations about men’s mental health, break the stigma, and create workplaces that support our mates. #InternationalMensDay #MATES #PositiveMaleRoleModels #MentalHealthMatters #MATEShelpingMATES #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealth

We’re in Tamworth for the local government of NSW annual conference, where over 1000 delegates including mayors, councillors, and companies like #Yurika get together to exchange ideas and debate issues that shape the way LGNSW is governed and advocates on behalf of the sector. It’s been a great couple of days for us to identify how our services - especially #telecommunications, #metering and #electricitynetwork infrastructure can help the growing needs of local Councils. High-speed internet improves economic outcomes in regional areas through increased business activity, productivity, jobs, and income. So, we’re proud to be partnering with the South Burnett Regional Council to build a high-speed, high availability fibre optic telecommunications network in the Nanango and Kingaroy areas. The fibre optic project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Regional Economic Futures Fund (REFF) and will provide telecommunication options that are independent of other telecommunications networks in the region, offering redundancy and diversity for education, health, and all businesses across the region. Along with the economic and social benefits high-speed connectivity will bring to the local community, creating a fibre link that’s independent of the current available telecommunications service, will allow local businesses to choose higher speed connectivity at more competitive prices.
