The fifth long-form video of “11 shades of AI Act” is now released. It highlights which AI systems enter the limited and minimal risk categories, which are lightly regulated. It also discusses the applicable requirements. Check it out : Hi. Nice to meet you, I’m an AI The other videos released so far are available on the same webpage. https://lnkd.in/d3MP-NiR

The AI Act, adopted at EU level after harsh negotiations, was published at the Official Journal in summer. This Regulation is highly complex, while its significance and consequences might rival with those of the GDPR. In essence, it provides a first legal definition of “AI systems” and “General-Purpose AI models” and regulates them based on the level of risk that they generate. Its material provisions contain fairly technical requirements and mix transversal and sectoral regulatory approaches. The Regulation also sets an enforcement framework, with heavy sanctions that can be imposed, and an impressive number of enforcement authorities. DENiM's legal partners (UNamur, CRIDS) decided to delve into this topic head-on. They currently release series of 11 videos (in English, with French subtitles), named “11 shades of AI Act”. You’ll find the videos on their website: https://lnkd.in/eyZHKVtU They detail the major aspects of the Regulation, in a clear and accessible way. They are destined to lawyers, public authorities, developers of AI solutions, and businesses (SMEs and bigger companies alike) who seek to integrate AI tools within their operations. Release schedule for videos 1-5: Video 1 – "Introduction to the AI Act - basics and essentials" - 30 October 2024 Video 2 – “Classification of AI systems” - 8 November 2024 Video 3 – “General-Purpose AI models” - 18 November 2024 Video 4 – “With high-risks come high requirements” - 28 November 2024 Video 5 – “Hi. Nice to meet you, I’m an AI” - 9 December 2024 Videos 6-11 will become available during the first semester of 2025. Follow CRIDS/NaDI on LinkedIn to stay informed about the release of videos and hear about other initiatives!

Thanks NSAI and Barry Cox for the continued support of our work in the DENiM_fof project where our team actively promote and support the use of standards for energy efficiency in manufacturing. Standards play a vital role in the project as they provide a common frame that maximises opportunities for implementing sustainable practices across diverse industrial sectors! Marco Rocchetti, Nimbus Research Centre
Innovation, sustainability and the power of standards! Dr. Alan McGibney and Dr. Susan Rea, winners of the NSAI Innovation Award last year have been involved in important European projects exploring Standards, Regulations, and Certifications. These projects have published informative reports highlighting the dynamic landscape of sustainability, regulations, certification, and standards – a landscape that shapes our future. 🌱 Standards as Pillars Standards serve as the bedrock for long-term planning, ensuring robust infrastructure capable of weathering future challenges. They provide the blueprint for resilience and progress. 🏆 Certification: More Than Badges But what about certification? It’s more than a mere badge—it’s the gold standard in environmental management. Certifications validate eco-friendly energy practices and guarantee compliance with essential standards. They’re the compass guiding us toward sustainable practices. 🌐 Empowering Consumers, Investors, and Regulators These standards create a common framework—one that empowers consumers, investors, and regulators alike. We can assess and compare energy performance across products, services, buildings, and companies. Transparency thrives, and informed decision-making becomes our compass. Let’s continue championing #innovation, #sustainability, and the power of #standards! 🌟 For more information about the DEMiM project, please visit – https://lnkd.in/eMHGVMMd For more information about the ENERMAN project, please visit - https://lnkd.in/dVJUE2vU #TrustStandards CEN and CENELEC ISO - International Organization for Standardization
