Organised by the Federation of European Securities Exchanges, EuropeanIssuers, and the European Commission, this event showcases the crucial role of SMEs in Europe’s capital markets. These awards underscore the strength and importance of Europe’s capital markets for the growth and competitiveness of companies and the vital role of EU SMEs and small midcaps in fostering growth and innovation in Europe. 🏆 Meet the winners across four key categories: 1. Star of 2024 🌍 – Recognising excellence in ESG and corporate performance, this award celebrates standout corporate citizens setting high standards for responsible leadership. Winner: OKWIND 2. Star of Innovation 🚀 – Awarded to newly listed small or mid-caps pioneering innovation, tech advancement, or impactful strategies within their fields. Winner: Gubra 3. Yesterday, AFME (Association for Financial Markets in Europe) in collaboration with #FESE and ten other European and international associations presented the seventh edition of the “𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀” report in Brussels. This report tracks the progress of Europe’s capital markets against nine key performance indicators and analysing the progress over the past seven years. The 2024 report reveals several challenges and trends. The EU continues to trail global leaders like the US, UK, and China in access to capital, market liquidity, and integration, undermining its economic competitiveness. Despite leading in ESG finance, the EU has seen slower growth in ESG bond issuance compared to non-ESG, suggesting a potential plateau. Financial integration within the bloc is deteriorating, and the underdeveloped securitisation market further highlights inefficiencies. Additionally, disparities between Northern and Eastern Europe persist, while the EU FinTech ecosystem struggles to attract investment, though progress in tokenised bonds offers a bright spot. #FESE and the other associations remain committed to the European Commission's objective of advancing the Capital Markets Union benefiting European people, businesses and the economy.
