We’re excited to announce that the first-ever 4-hour, 10MW Battery Energy Storage System in the Netherlands is now operational in Rilland, Zeeland, and optimized by #Flexcity! 💡 This 10MW battery plays an important role in improving grid stability, reducing energy costs and supporting the shift to renewable energy. The year 2024 has recently ended… What about a quick Recap of the Spanish Active Demand Response Service (#SRAD)? 🇪🇸 In 2024, SRAD represented a remuneration of €40.82/MW/h for availability, equivalent to €234 k€/MW for the entire year (5,745 required hours). The service was activated four times: 1️⃣ On 22/05/2024 at 21:14 2️⃣ On 10/07/2024 at 22:01 3️⃣ On 11/12/2024 at 18:30 4️⃣ On 12/12/2024 at 18:30 During these activations, Red Eléctrica balanced the electricity grid by reducing demand, avoiding the consumption of 6,357 MWh. This non-consumed energy was compensated at a weighted average price of 123.86 €/MWh (activation remuneration). Therefore, while the gross remuneration for industrials comes from their capacity of being available, the impact on their daily activity was limited to 10,5 h for the whole 2024. For 2025, with 1,148 MW participating in SRAD, the question remains: how many activations will we see this year? 💡 Have consumption assets in Spain? 🇪🇸 Spain’s New Capacity Market: A Game-Changer for Green Energy & Flexibility ⚡ On December 18th, the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico published the documentation to launch a Capacity Market (#CRM) in Spain. 💡 What’s the goal? To provide long-term stability and security in the electric power system while encouraging investment in green technologies like renewables and batteries. ⚡ How does it work? The TSO creates long-term forecasts for electricity production and demand, identifying the need for flexible capacity to balance the grid. Participants can sell their flexibility through auctions and receive remuneration for 1 to 15 years if selected. 🛠️ How are the capacity auctions organised? Red Eléctrica will manage three types of auctions: 1️⃣ Main auctions for long-term capacity. 2️⃣ Adjustment auctions to fine-tune capacity already contracted. 3️⃣ Transitory auctions for the interim period before the first main auction. 👥 Who can participate? Electricity producers Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Electricity consumers Aggregators For new investments, eligible projects include renewables, BESS, and demand-side projects. 🌍 This initiative marks a major step toward a more #sustainable and #flexible energy future in Spain. 💬 Want to know more about this opportunity?
