🎄Season’s Greetings from Soil Capital As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on the challenges European farmers continue to face: rising costs, market volatility, climate shocks, and soil degradation—all of which threaten food security, livelihoods, and the environment. Yet, farmers hold the key to addressing climate and environmental challenges. At Soil Capital, we’re proud to support those transitioning to regenerative agriculture—restoring soils, enhancing biodiversity, and building climate resilience while improving livelihoods. Together, we can create a sustainable, thriving future for farming. To our farmers, partners, and communities: thank you for your dedication and collaboration. We wish you a joyful holiday season and a New Year full of hope and possibility. 🌱 #RegenerativeAgriculture #EUFarming #SoilHealth #FoodSecurity #ClimateAction

Regenerative agriculture for food system resilience & climate action
About us
Soil Capital is a mission-driven company with long expertise in regenerative agriculture and spearheading the low-carbon transition of farms. It was founded on the core belief that farmers should be rewarded and fairly compensated for their key role in tackling the ecological crisis. Operating internationally, Soil Capital’s ambition is to accompany farmers in the transition of 1 million hectares to more profitable and regenerative agriculture by 2025. In 2019, Soil Capital launched Europe’s first certified carbon payment programme to accelerate the adoption of regenerative practices. It now counts over 1,600 farmers in its ranks, spread across France, Belgium and the UK. We value farmers’ reduced carbon emissions and/or increased soil carbon storage on the carbon voluntary markets through high-integrity certification. Our carbon certification programme unlocks regenerative and resilient food supply chains, by connecting farmers with food & fiber companies committed to rebalancing our agriculture system. We also support companies that want to contribute to support regenerative farming as part of their global net zero initiatives.

Soil Capital | B Corp™ The Shift Project Shifters 28 Chartres métropole Terres d'Eure-et-Loir Département d’Eure et Loir

We are obsessed with improving farmers’ most important capital: Soil! 🪱 This obsession drove us to launch one of the most ambitious #regenerativeagriculture programmes in 2019. The impact? Over €9,5 million paid to farmers for delivering measurable environmental benefits—and a game-changer for AgFood companies aiming to scale their #Scope3 emissions reductions programmes. How are we making it happen? It all comes down to the Soil Capital Unit — a powerful tool designed to align farmers and AgFood companies. What makes the Soil Capital Unit so impactful? ▶Enables AgFood companies to pilot and scale their Scope 3 programmes ▶Delivers measurable, certified results tied to real farming practices ▶Provides farmers with financial rewards for their practice changes ▶Aligns with #SBTi FLAG standards ▶Can be converted into the most relevant KPI for your company: Tons of reduced CO2, numbers of hectares to transition, numbers of farmers engaged, volumes of crops … The Soil Capital Unit starts on farms. Curious about how it works? 👉Swipe through to unpack it from the ground up, with Alain, one of our farmers. 💡Ready to explore what the Soil Capital Unit can do for your business? Join us for an open Q&A Session with our CEO. Missed Our Latest Webinar on New EU AgFood policies for #Scope3 programme? Here are the top 3 takeaways: 1️⃣ CRCF is Coming The EU Carbon Removals Certification Framework (#CRCF) is advancing harmonised rules for certifying carbon removals, with an EU-wide registry planned for 2028. Certification starts in 2026, setting the stage for regulatory-backed mechanisms for rewarding carbon removals in the EU. 2️⃣ Transparency Isn’t Enough Disclosure policies like #CSRD and #CSDDD highlights risks and plans to address them but won’t be enough alone. While more regulatory coherence can be achieved, we also need to ensure that farmers are paid fairly and consistently for the ecosystem services they deliver to the market. 3️⃣ Act Early on Scope 3 Emissions Leading companies treat Scope 3 reductions as a marathon. They’re assessing supply chains, identifying emission hotspots, and implementing actionable plans—gaining a competitive edge and mitigating long-term costs. 💡You want the full insight? Monday #AgronomicNews 🌱 By now, winter crops are sown, and grain corn is harvested, giving farmers a moment to recover from a challenging year. Here are the three key points we discussed this morning: 🫛 Pea crops: High humidity left over 60% of pea fields unharvestable. While essential for nitrogen fixation, many farmers plan to reduce or abandon this crop due to repeated failures and economic challenges. Source: terre-net.com 🌽 Maize: When well-managed, maize proves valuable, producing high biomass in six months, supporting cover crops, and regulating summer temperatures. 🚜 Companion cropping for maize: Sowing companion crops at the end of the maize cycle, as light reaches the ground, aligns with autumn mineralisation. But challenges remain: species selection, competition, weather, sowing methods, and weed control. Thanks to our agronomists, especially Maxime Alaurent for these insights! Stay tuned for more agronomic updates! 🌱 #RegenAg #SoilCapital #AgroNews

Harvest time on our #agroforestry plot! 🌳 The tree rows parade merrily alongside the combine doing its job in the #organic maize crop. 🌾 Our walnut trees are almost 4 years old now and are growing very well, in harmony with the succession of organic crops and pastures, all managed in a #regenerative agroforestry system. 🍀

🍺 The future of malt #supplychains lies in #regenerativeagriculture! We had an incredible time at the brewery event in Nuremberg with our partners at Boortmalt. After a year of collaboration, we’re proud to be shaping the future of sustainable beer-making together. This is a tangible, real-life example of building a #resilient supply chain while engaging suppliers throughout the malt value chain. Key takeaways from BrauBeviale: ▶️ Low-carbon malt is now a reality. ▶️ Regenerative agriculture is essential for addressing #Scope3 emissions. ▶️ The Boortmalt team is stepping up as leaders in #sustainability. 🌾 A big thank you to Boortmalt for their dedication and to everyone who joined us!
