𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 A delegation from Business Botswana, led by the President Mr. Neo Nwako, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, Honourable Major General (Retired) Pius Mokgware. During the visit, Mr. Moleele congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment and reaffirmed Business Botswana's commitment to collaborating with the Ministry to create a favourable labour environment that will enable the private sector to thrive. Among the key issues discussed were: a) The proposed P4,000 minimum wage 2) Abrupt and unclear holiday announcements 3) The implications of the local government per-diem on employment 4) Labour law review, among other topics. In response, the Honourable Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for Business Botswana's role in the economy. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 Yesterday, the Francistown Business Council held a meeting to address several key topics. 1) 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐚: The Policy & Research Department was introduced, and their plans to support the Business Councils were discussed. This department aims to play a critical role in shaping the business environment and assisting with strengthening of Businsss Council, evidence-based research and policy development. 2) 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧: The meeting also covered various issues faced by businesses in the region, ranging from regulatory impediments, opportunities , and to infrastructure needs. Business Botswana remains committed to driving a thriving private sector by promoting policies that support business growth. In line with Francistown's vision to become an investment hub, both domestically and internationally, the Council's discussions reflect a strategic focus on improving economic development and attracting investments to the region.
