Updates

  • We had an amazing time bringing Santa, Mrs. Claus and gifts to the four North Coast communities- Hopedale, Postville, Rigolet and Makkovik. This year, the gifts also included a special book by Robert Munsch-Give Me Back My Dad, inspired by a girl named Cheryl from Rigolet. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible, and to the Rotary Club for their ongoing support. Special thanks to our incredible pilots, James Earle and Cameron Roberts for safely flying us through some stunning landscapes and ensuring we could spread holiday joy to the communities.

  • Bryson and Matthew from Natuashish and Sheshatshiu were among the lucky kids on this year's Flight to the North Pole with PAL Airlines! They took off from St. John's and flew all the way to the North Pole to meet Santa himself. 🎅 This annual Christmas tradition gives kids across Newfoundland and Labrador a chance to win a seat on the flight of a lifetime. We are so thrilled that these two children from Labrador got to be part of the magic. We hope you both had the best time ever with Santa and made some unforgettable memories! 🌟❄️

  • Today marks 19 years since the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement came into effect, paving the way for the establishment of Nunatsiavut’s self-government. On December 1, 2005, after more than 30 years of negotiations, a new chapter in the region's history was written. Let’s take a moment to celebrate Nunatsiavut’s resilience, leadership, and enduring strength as we honor this milestone and wish the residents a joyful day.

  • International Inuit Day, observed on November 7, is a vital opportunity to celebrate Inuit and amplify their voices. We are deeply honored to work alongside the Inuit of Nunatsiavut and celebrate our Inuit partnership through the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies. Air Borealis extends heartfelt best wishes to our employees, communities, and partners as we celebrate this day.

  • Meet James Poker, a resident of Natuashish, born in Sheshatshiu, and the talented artist behind our Orange Shirt Day artwork! James’ artwork features Innu and Inuit drums, paying tribute to the harvesting, food, song, and dance traditions. We proudly wear his artwork highlighting the history and traditions that Indigenous people from the North Coast of Labrador continue to uphold.

  • On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honor the legacy and the impact of residential schools and reflect on the resilience of the survivors. Continuing our tradition of collaboration with Indigenous artists, we are honored to work with James Poker, born in Sheshatshiu, currently residing in Natuashish, who has created a powerful symbol for Orange Shirt Day that reflects the traditions and cultures of the Innu and Inuit of Labrador. Building on last year’s collaboration with artist Jessica Winters from Makkovik, this initiative upholds our commitment to reconciliation and amplifying Indigenous voices. Together, let’s remember, reflect, and strive for a future grounded in understanding and healing.

  • On September 27, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers partnered with Exchange Income Corporation (EIC) to host the annual Orange Shirt Game in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day. Air Borealis is proud to support this important event by bringing fans from the Indigenous communities on the North Coast of Labrador to attend the game. As part of the EIC family, we are grateful to contribute to this meaningful occasion once again.
