A Child. A Wish. A Dream Come True.
About us
Alberta Dreams is the only wish-granting organization in Alberta that is dedicated exclusively to children with severe chronic or life-threatening medical illness. We are proud to provide a much-needed service to children and their families who are facing unimaginable challenges. At Alberta Dreams, we understand the impact that chronic illness can have on a child’s daily life. We define chronic illness as a medical condition that significantly affects a child’s ability to carry out their daily activities. This impact can result from various factors such as frequent hospital stays, use of oxygen and/or ventilator machines, high doses of medications, or the need for significant medical intervention. Our inclusion of chronic illness in our mandate sets us apart from similar organizations in Canada. We are a crucial resource for chronically ill children who do not quality for a wish under other programs. Alberta Dreams believes that every child deserves a chance to experience the joy of having their dream come true and is an essential resource for chronically ill children in Alberta.

In 2024, Alberta Dreams was blessed to receive donations from some major corporations. 👏👏 Two Dreams Makers we would like to highlight are: ATCO EPIC: is a grassroots initiative involving employee-led committees that plan, implement, and administer workplace fundraising campaigns. The program combines fundraising events, auctions, team competitions, and employee and retiree pledges. ATCO EPIC’s charitable-giving campaign allows our employees to pledge to the charities that are important to them. ATCO matches employee and retiree donations that support community impact organizations that align to ATCO’s values and commitment to diversity and inclusion. and Shell Scotford's mission is to focus and invest meaningfully in a smaller number of national or regional non-profit organizations that are making significant positive impacts in communities across the country. By investing in this purposeful way over multiple years, it allows organizations to plan ahead, and for programs to thrive and reach successful outcomes. If you would like to become a Dream Marker for Alberta Dreams, please head over to our website to learn more. www.albertadrems.ca

Friends, meet... Keagan! 👏👏 13 year old Keagan was born at just 27 weeks gestation. Though he spent 82 days in the NICU when he was born, and as the healthier twin, he had a relatively non eventful childhood until 2021 when he was diagnosed a severe form of Grave’s Disease. Still struggling to maintain his levels at times and suffering from extreme fatigue he is on the road to managing his disease. Keagan, like most teens, loves gaming and Alberta Dreams was over the moon when we were able to create the ultimate teen gaming/movie room for him and his family to enjoy. With a new big screen TV, PS5, VR headsets and the world’s most comfortable couch, amongst so much more; we were excited to learn that Keagan’s favorite thing in his new gaming room makeover was “EVERYTHING” but especially the amazing super soft purple shag carpet. We hope Keagan, his 2 brothers and their parents have many fun gaming nights and movie marathons for years to come.
