Nigeria's Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria leadership team, including Olufemi Akinyelure and Abba Aliyu, recently visited our advanced solar microgrid at the University of Abuja. The project stands as a showcase for Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) and scaling renewables across the country. This project is part of the #EnergizingEducation Phase II initiative funded by The World Bank and implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria. It has recently been completed and will be providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy to over powering 50,000+ students and staff. Key highlights: ☀️ 3.3 MW PV capacity & 2 MWh energy storage, with energy management through an advanced microgrid controller to optimize efficiency. ⚡ Energy as a Service (EaaS) model, capable of generating revenue. 🌱 75% renewable energy share in the university’s energy mix. 💡 Campus power distribution network upgrade. ⚙️ Establishment of a world-class energy training centre to support the education of University students in renewables. 🛠️ Building capacity of 20+ young graduates in solar project delivery through our Graduate Engineering Program (GEP). This initiative not only ensures reliable energy for education and research but also showcases a sustainable path forward for #Nigeria’s carbon neutrality goal by 2060. #SDG7 #PoweringNigeria #Energy #Sustainability #AfricaEnergyTransition #NetZero
