About us
Immigrant Entrepreneur Canada (IEC), founded in March 2023, is a national economic development center dedicated to empowering and accelerating the impact and success of Canadian immigrant entrepreneurs. With a focus of fostering diversity, innovation, and economic growth, IEC aims to create a strong and inclusive business ecosystem in Canada. IEC engages, connects, and empowers Canadian immigrants through education, advocacy, and the creation of opportunities to acquire, start, and scale ventures. IEC addresses the needs of immigrant entrepreneurs, recognizes their potential and current contributions, while helping propel their success in Canada through tailored programming. These include programs for early-stage entrepreneurs to establish successful ventures; for established businesses looking to expand; and for those looking at entrepreneurship through acquisition, helping bridge the gap between retiring small business owners and immigrants looking at acquisition as a pathway to entrepreneurship. IEC offers training, mentorship, and opportunities for immigrant business integration. It collaborates with innovation, business, and immigration services across Canada.

Last weekend, we wrapped up our IEC Retail Incubator Program, presented by RBC and supported by Meridian Credit Union. This initiative successfully launched and supported 21 immigrant entrepreneurs in the Ottawa area, achieving impressive results through our innovative curriculum and hands-on pop-up shop in the ByWard Market District Authority. We’d like to introduce you to Sophia Yang, the owner of ChaDynasty. Her dedication to sharing the art of tea culture has made her business a unique asset to our community. After launching at our pop-up store, she won a Stakt grant and returned to the market for an entire month, significantly expanding her sales and reach. We are so proud of you, Sophia! Thank you to all our supporters and community partners. Stay tuned for more stories in the coming days.
