This event is a unique opportunity to explore our holistic approach to community care, with a special focus on our Affordable Housing for Larger and Extended Families initiative, which is central to helping community members achieve long-term stability. This open house will be a fair-style event, allowing attendees to explore the different areas of services offered at IslamicFamily, meet community members, and enjoy delicious brunch food. We're Hiring a Refugee Sponsorship Program Specialist! Join our dedicated team at IslamicFamily as we continue to support and reunite families through our Refugee Sponsorship Program. In this role, you'll help guide community members through the complex refugee sponsorship process and make a real impact by assisting newly resettled refugees in finding their footing in a new country.

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, IslamicFamily will be closed as we take time to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the injustices that persist to this very day. As we continue to learn and work towards meaningful reconciliation, we stand in steadfast solidarity with Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island and around the world. All client services, including the helpline, will be closed today. We reopen on Tuesday, October 1st.

Urgent Call for Halal Diets in Alberta Prisons ⁠ Muslims in Alberta’s provincial prisons are the only faith group without access to a standardized religious diet. This forces them to either avoid eating meat or compromise their beliefs. Despite IslamicFamily, as part of our prison programming and advocacy work, providing a detailed brief to the government months ago, no action has been taken. The situation has become critical, with a community member now on a hunger strike to highlight this injustice. We need your support!
