  • Calling all changemakers! 🌍🪴 Applications are open for the 2025-26 Social Ventures Incubator! If you're a Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador student or recent grad (within 12 months) with a passion for social good, this is your opportunity to join our incubator and receive several supports such as business advising, funding and trainings to develop and grow your venture. 📅 Deadline to apply: March 19, 2025 Not sure if you’re including the right details in your application form?   • ✨ Meet the CSE Team! ✨  Last up is Dr. Gillian Morrissey....     Gillian joined Faculty of Business Administration at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2019 and moved into the role of Manager at the CSE in 2021. As Manager, Gillian sets the strategic direction for the Centre, supports the rest of the team to facilitate their programs and activities. She also works to build our network outside of the University, to help foster opportunities and collaborations at provincial, national, and even international, levels.    Prior to working at Memorial, Gillian founded and ran two social enterprises, Project Grace and The Bethany Centre for Arts and Community. Gillian loves working with other aspiring social entrepreneurs to build their strategy and scale their impact. She gives regular workshops and coaching sessions in our Social Ventures Incubator, and with other entrepreneurial programs at Memorial.    Gillian is also a professional flutist and can often be heard playing with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra or in various other musicals and shows. Outside of work, she spends time with her family and enjoys riding her horse, Cativa!

  • ✨ Meet the CSE Team! ✨ Next up is Alyssa King, our Community Employment and Engagement Officer. Since joining the team in October 2022, Alyssa has been dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between students and the community, linking their learning and research with applied experiences. She manages the Living Lab, student Mitacs internships within local social enterprises, Innovation Jam brainstorming sessions, and Map the System. Through the Living Lab, Alyssa has supported 102 students in accessing valuable experiential learning opportunities. She has collaborated with three community organizations and engaged 35 students in creative problem-solving through the newly launched Innovation Jams. A Registered Social Worker with a background in career development and front-line service, Alyssa is passionate about opening doors for students while creating value for local organizations. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, traveling, and recently picked up her saxophone again after a decade-long hiatus!

  • ✨Meet the CSE Team! ✨ Next up is Sarah Croft, our Program and Student Engagement Coordinator. Sarah has been in this role since January 2020, focusing on student programming at the Centre. Since starting, Sarah has supported 114 experiential learning opportunities for students within 51 social purpose organizations through our Work Experience in Social Enterprise program. She’s also supported 22 student social ventures through the Social Ventures Incubator, which is currently on its 5th cohort. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading psychological thrillers, hiking and watching Gilmore Girls repeatedly. If you ever run into Sarah, don’t forget to ask her about her cats – Lily and Faye!

  • ✨ Meet the CSE Team✨ Up first is Nancy Leung! Nancy is our Strategic Initiatives Coordinator and joined the team in July 2024. She promotes social innovation and leads exciting initiatives related to social finance, impact investing, social procurement, and impact measurement. Currently, she manages Common Approach Pathfinder Pilot Project, a study on flexible impact measurement approach, and PLACE Dialogues. Nancy is one of the very few in the province who completed the Social Procurement Professional Trainings. Outside of work, she is a paw parent and has a 2-year-old dog named Mickey. She enjoys playing softball and playing guitar during leisure time. #CSETeam #socialinnovation #socialenterprise
