The only global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in crisis zones.
Info
The International alliance for the protection of heritage (ALIPH) is the only global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in areas in conflict and crisis, and regions vulnerable to climate change. It was founded in March 2017 in response to the massive destruction in recent years of outstanding, often ancient, cultural heritage, particularly in the Middle East and the Sahel region. Based in Geneva, this Swiss foundation has the status of an international organization. ALIPH finances concrete projects carried out by associations, foundations, academic, cultural and heritage institutions, and international organizations. Projects financed by ALIPH target monuments and sites, museums and their collections, documents, archives and manuscripts, and intangible heritage. ALIPH selects a wide variety of projects through regular calls for proposals. When urgent intervention is needed, ALIPH has a dedicated rolling Emergency Relief funding scheme and it can also institute an "Action Plan" to support an affected country or region. All projects are thoroughly reviewed by ALIPH’s Scientific Committee and approved by ALIPH’s Foundation Board.

🎉 Congratulations to the team at King's College London for winning the prestigious ICCROM-Sharjah Award for Good Practices in the Preservation and Protection of Cultural Heritage in the #Arab Region! #GrandAward! 🏆 Their project, Managing Libya’s Cultural Heritage – Restoring Ghadames (#MaLiCH), has been supported by ALIPH since 2020, including work such as emergency stabilization measures and training for local professionals to preserve traditional mud buildings. This project was implemented in partnership with many local partners, including the Libyan Department of Antiquities, who together focused on this desert city of #Ghadames, one of #Libya’s archaeological treasures, which was placed on the World Heritage in Danger list in 2016. Learn more about this project and about ALIPH’s support in preserving #Libya’s cultural heritage! 👉 https://lnkd.in/dj5vGfju
