🎀 Understanding Breast Density: Insights from a Swiss Study 🇨🇭 Breast density is a risk factor for breast cancer and can affect the sensitivity of mammography, complicating early detection efforts. Age, menopause, race, menopausal hormone therapy and other factors affect the incidence of dense and extremely dense breasts. Yet, in #switzerland, data on breast density prevalence is limited. To fill this gap, the recent study from Adergicia V. Kaiser, Daniela Purin (Zanolin), Natalie C. Chuck, Jennifer Enaux & Daniela Wruk examined the prevalence of breast density classified using the latest ACR BI-RADS catalogue in a selected Swiss population using our b-rayZ AI technology for consistent classification. Key Findings: • The most common breast density category was C (heterogeneously dense) at 41.5%, followed by B (scattered fibroglandular tissue) at 22.5%. • Extremely dense breasts (category D) were significantly more prevalent in younger women, with 34% of those under 55 falling into this category. This dropped to <10% for women aged 55+. Understanding the distribution of breast density in local populations is crucial for improving patient risk stratification and screening outcomes. These insights will help tailor screening strategies to meet the specific needs of Swiss women.
