The role of electric vehicles in the energy transition USA: the market share of electric vehicles and biofuels are increasing, resulting in a fall in domestic petrol consumption. China: although the gap with other countries is narrowing, the People’s Republic continues to dominate the energy transition in terms of both investment and spending. The next few years are likely to see the adoption of an electric car development policy. India: the market for electric vehicles has been growing slowly due to higher costs. Demand for petrol and diesel will only peak after 2023. Europe: stricter rules on CO2 emissions will result in an increase in sales of electric cars. The primary bond market is mainly available to institutional investors. It is here that companies first issue their bonds, usually with a fixed maturity, and they generally rely on bookrunners. What type of investor are you? A person who invests in shares acquires a stake in a company, becomes a shareholder and receives a portion of the profits distributed (dividend). A person who purchases bonds becomes a creditor of the issuing company, public body or government and is remunerated with a coupon (interest). It is possible to invest in both types of instrument via investment funds; these are financial instruments that pool savers' money, which is managed as a single major asset. Investment funds hold multiple securities and are therefore diversified by nature.
