Last week, one of our colleagues, Stefan Knaus, represented the OpenBankingProject.ch (OBP) community at the yearly DIDAS event. DIDAS is committed to a digital Switzerland with more privacy and less friction. It is a neutral ground for experts, policy makers, and enthusiasts coming together to create a Self-Sovereign Identity Ecosystem in Switzerland. In this context, they support the provision of the Swiss #EID and corresponding #TrustInfrastructure and mobilise various industries (health, finance, retail) to participate and create #UseCases based on the E-ID and other credentials. We are happy to be part of this initiative and host the DIDAS working group #banking. We are looking forward to drive #consent-#driven #data #sharing in Switzerland forward together 🚀
🚀 Today the Year-End Event of DIDAS took place at Swisscom Business Campus in Zurich, in their renowned "oval office". A suitable place for new and inspiring thoughts for the coming year in order to prepare Switzerland for the #EID and the corresponding #TrustInfrastructure. The Technology, Adoption, and Governance working groups presented their current results and planned activities. Afterward, the industry-specific working groups were able to present their roadmap and potential synergies with other working streams. I gave a glimpse into the current activities of the DIDAS working group #banking and what we have planned for 2025: - Sharing knowledge about #EID, #SelfSovereignIdentity and #Wallets among banks - Identifying and structuring #UseCases based on the #EID and other Verifiable Credentials - Assessing positioning opportunities for banks with regard to the federal #TrustInfrastructure - Collection and evaluation of implications for the #BusinessArchitecture of banks when dealing with wallets and credentials - Realisation of a #ProofOfConcept based on Public Beta I am looking forward to another interesting year! If you want to be part of our monthly working group meetings you can drop me a message 📩 #SSI #EID #FutureofBanking #Credentials #Wallets

💡 The Swiss National Bank (SNB) and SIX Interbank Clearing Ltd (SIC Ltd) have jointly introduced the new SIC5 platform. This enables financial institutions to process #instant #payments in central bank money. In the future, the SIC-IP service should also be made available to interest providers of payment solutions (payment schemes) for their account-to-account (A2A) payments. Therefore, a rough concept for an #InstantPaymentBridge (IPB) was introduced, which led to a public market consultation. 📑 The #partners of the OpenBankingProject.ch endorse the efforts of SNB and SIX to make the infrastructure accessible to other market participants. OBP has therefore submitted the following statement below. Furthermore, thanks to an instant payment bridge, payment schemes that enable A2A payments directly in #ECommerce or at the #PointOfSale would also be realizable better. With the usage of irrevocable payment promises, instant payments could be also used for such A2A payments, although IP have been considered inadequate due to the 10-second time period so far. We are excited to see what other innovations will be launched on the market as a result of this IPB. 🧠 The OpenBankingProject.ch is eager to contribute and support the development of an instant payment bridge. #payments #innovation #A2A #OpenBanking #OpenFinance

💡 In 2026, Swiss banks will also be confronted with the national E-ID! But how and in which processes can banks integrate the E-ID and what are the implications and potentials of participating in the Confederation's trust infrastructure? 🧠 The OpenBankingProject.ch participated yesterday in a webinar from the Swiss Banking - Schweizerische Bankiervereinigung about #relevance, #implications, and #potentials of the Swiss e-ID and the corresponding trust infrastructure for the Swiss financial sector. The large number of participants from the Swiss banks has shown, that the banks are beginning to address the Swiss E-ID and the topic of Self-Sovereign Identities and its impact on their business architecture. 🚀 As an initiative, we would also like to contribute to this emerging field and the arising questions and challenges that banks are currently facing. Together with our partners, members, and our community (Ergon Informatik AG, finnova AG Bankware, Intrum, PXL Vision, Inventx Lab, Swisscom) we are organising a workshop series from November 2024 until February 2025, followed by a Proof of Concept of the most relevant use case based on the Swiss E-ID. You can find all relevant information about this project below. 🤝 If you would like to join us, please feel free to contact us. The kick-off workshop takes place on Thursday, 24th of October 2024 @ Ergon in Zurich. #banking #innovation #SelfSovereignIdentity #eID #wallet #UseCases
