  • In today's interconnected world, success hinges not only on technical expertise but also on the ability to navigate cultural differences. Two prominent work philosophies from Asia, #Kaizen and #Jugaad exemplify this dynamic.   GIFT's #GlobalLeadersProgramme in September 2024 brought together professionals from 10 countries, including Japan and India. This experience provided an opportunity to explore how these philosophies can be integrated to promote innovative and inclusive problem-solving. While Jugaad emphasises creative, frugal innovation, Kaizen focuses on continuous, incremental improvement. Together, they create a strong framework for #crosscultural collaboration.     Read the full article by Rebecca Yip, here: https://lnkd.in/gRdvkGxq

Dee Poon, President of Brands and Retailing, recently shared insights at "The Hong Kong Young Leaders Programme" hosted by the Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT). With a focus on revolutionizing Hong Kong’s public K-12 education system for a technology-driven future, the programme brings together young talents from various sectors.     Stressing resilience as a key skill for the next generation, she highlighted the importance of mental health in education. She also emphasized the need of an innovative ecosystem that fosters creativity and new technologies, while introducing DETERMINANT's collaboration with Bloom KKCA Academy's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program, offering hands-on experiences in sustainability-driven supply chains and a "store manager" role. As a company dedicated to Defining the Status Quo for Tomorrow, Tessellation places strong focus on people, innovation, sustainability and excellence, nurturing young talents that can drive innovative and sustainable breakthroughs to create positive impacts. 💡✨    #TessellationGroup #DefiningtheStatusQuoforTomorrow #PerspectivesMatter #HKYoungLeadersProgramme #Innovation

  • The 10th cohort of GIFT’s annual Hong Kong Young Leaders Programme (#HKYLP) recently participated in a series of site visits to observe how schools across the city are innovating to address the complex challenges surrounding effective technology education. Key takeaways from these visits include: 🌟 Leadership & the Role of the Principal  • Principals play a critical role in the success of their school and students. Dedication, resilience, and foresight enable schools to deliver best-in-class education, even with limited resources.   • Creative and caring leadership unlocks opportunities for students that would otherwise be inaccessible and motivates faculty at the same time. 🌟 Teacher Skills & Capacity  • Teaching quality is pivotal for student outcomes, and NGOs can support teacher upskilling and pilot innovative projects.  • While teacher upskilling is vital, capacity remains a major hurdle. AI tools can alleviate administrative burdens but are often costly and have limited capabilities. 🌟 Future-focused Education & Industry Partnership  • With rapid advancements in technology, soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and global awareness are essential for navigating the future. Project-Based Learning (PBL) addresses this need but is often confined to STEM subjects in public schools. • To develop today’s youth into a future-ready workforce, long-term partnerships with industry and work-experience sharing programmes are invaluable for preparing students and teachers while strengthening the school-university-industry ecosystem. We extend our gratitude to thank Man Kiu Association Primary School, Shatin Pui Ying College, Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School, HKFYG Lee Shau Kee Primary School, Salesians of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School for their generous support. This Friday, the cohort will unveil their bold proposals on how to support Hong Kong’s public K-12 technology education. Join us at GIFT's Public Forum to engage in meaningful discussions and be part of the change for the city’s future! 👉 RSVP NOW: https://lnkd.in/gDeZXaQk Public Forum: Reshaping Hong Kong’s Public K-12 Education for a Technology-Enabled Future  📅 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏𝟑 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 ⏰ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞: 𝟐:𝟎𝟎𝐩𝐦 - 𝟒:𝟎𝟎𝐩𝐦 (𝐆𝐌𝐓 +𝟖) 📍 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞: 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫, HKMA, 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝟔𝟔 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝, 𝐖𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢, 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 HKYLP 2024 cohort: Darren Fung, Eva Choi, Chi Hang Henry CHAN, Irene Tam, Jeanie Ho, Joe Chan, Jonathan Mok (He/Him), PGDE, MHKIoD and CMgr, Kelly Cheng, Kenyon Chow, Lianna Yuen, Pony Lau, Sheann Ryan Alanguilan, Terra Ting, Len Nguyen (she/her), Blake Chan, Konica Cheung, Leo Wong, Rosaline Ho & Terence Yu.

  • As technological tools become more readily available in the workplace, how can #HR leverage these tools to improve their roles and empower the people within their organisation?   Last week, we had the privilege of participating in the Human Resources Summit 2024, hosted by the Asosiasi Asuransi Jiwa Indonesia (AAJI) in Jakarta.   Our Managing Director, Eric Stryson, joined an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Dr. Agus Sugiarto, Chairman of the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, and Bapak Oloan Manurung from Deloitte SEA, to contribute to discussion around the theme, ‘HR 5.0: Empowering People, Embracing Technology.’   The evolution of HR in this technological era goes beyond adopting new digital tools. It is about using technology to enhance human capabilities, enabling talent within the organisation to cultivate a global mindset, develop bold visions, and think more critically, thereby helping the organisation succeed in an increasingly turbulent operating environment.   We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with HR leaders in the insurance industries and explore together how HR can drive meaningful progress within their organisations.

  • Our Founder and CEO, Chandran Nair, joined Dr. Brian Wong, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong, and Mal Singh, a Singapore-based geopolitics consultant and Founder/Director of Terra Corporate Affairs, on Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) to discuss the impact of the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, recently held in Peru, and the future of multilateral cooperation. Chandran speaks about the need to move beyond a U.S.-centric view of multilateralism, calling for the global majority to have a stronger voice in shaping the narratives that define our world. He believes regional cooperation frameworks such as #ASEAN hold incredible potential to advance a multipolar world order—one that encourages inclusive dialogue and collaboration. Chandran also emphasises the importance of institutions, particularly in governance, to adopt and embrace more globally diverse perspectives to stay relevant amid the shifting global power dynamics. 👉 View the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/grb5qJbb
