Remarkable Event in Boston: Innovation, Sustainability, Growth 🌱 I had the pleasure of attending a live event organized by the Hellenic Innovation Network in Boston,a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, be inspired. It was incredible to hear from distinguished speakers who shared their insights on the startup ecosystem and the growing emphasis on sustainability. The discussions highlighted the importance of innovation in today’s rapidly changing world, focusing on creating sustainable solutions & fostering growth across borders. One of the key highlights was Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, George Kotsiras George Kotsiras, who outlined a series of strategic initiatives to attract startups to Greece. His vision included efforts to motivate Greeks working abroad to return and contribute to the country’s growth—a perfect alignment with the Greek government’s broader strategy to build a thriving innovation ecosystem. Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist of Cyprus, positioned Cyprus as a leader in innovation with its impressive strides in research& development. It was fascinating to hear about the role of Ίδρυμα Έρευνας κ Καινοτομίας in Cyprus’ innovation agenda.Later, we had a panel featuring startup founders from Cyprus, moderated by Christina Karapataki, that focused on how innovation & research can drive sustainable business growth. The session between George Serafeim,Harvard Business School Professor and Dimitrios Papalexopoulos, Chairman of TitanCement, was especially inspiring.Their conversation shed light on the intersection of business and sustainability,offering valuable lessons for entrepreneurs & established leaders alike. I also want to highlight the incredible work of Cyprus Seeds represented by Maria Makridou& Margarita Kyprianoy. This nonprofit initiative supports top scientists & researchers in commercializing their innovative work and creating social impact. Eleni Kandaras, President of HCA and Harry Kandaras, CSG Talent Head of life sciences division in biotech. All these align closely with my work as a #professionalgrowth coach where I help individuals, teams,organizations unlock their potential and drive growth—both personally& professionally. As a coach dedicated to fostering personal& professional growth, I see a strong alignment between the growth strategies implemented in Greece & Cyprus and my work. By empowering individuals to develop leadership skills, adopt a growth mindset, and innovate in their careers, I’m proud to support the broader vision of Greece’s economic and business growth. Part of the mission of Cyprus Seeds is to support, more than its grantees. The PHAETHON Centre of Excellence is one such example. Inviting the Phaethon management team, Professor George Georgiou and George Makrides, COO of the Phaethon, to be with us during the 2 week program we put together of meetings and training at the MIT, was a win win. An exercise from which we all gained a lot!

Dimitris Papalexopoulos from TITAN Cement Group and George Serafeim from Harvard Business School rocked the house last night at Hellenic Innovation Network's event at Fidelity Investments' headquarters in Boston. Thank you to Michael Vlastarakis and Roula Bachtalia from Eurobank for sponsoring the event, and to Kristen Craft at Fidelity Investments for hosting our sizable crowd. We were also honored by the presence of George Kotsiras, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist of Cyprus, and our dear Stratos Efthymiou, now Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece. We also enjoyed connecting with leadership from Cyprus Seeds--Jeremy Downward, Maria Markidou Georgiadou and Anna Protopapas--and with students from Mindspace. In the afternoon before the event, members of the diaspora like Giorgos Zacharia, Michael Tzannes, Kosta Ligris, and Dean Dimizas, CFA, among others, along with friends from the Boston startup ecosystem like David Kantaros and Chris McKenna from Foley & Lardner LLP gave advice to five entrepreneurs with operations in Greece and/or Cyprus: Inder Mukhopadhyay from Aliciabots, Nicholas Myers from Phoenix Tailings, Vasilis Stenos from Solmeyea, Constantinos Loizou from Embio Diagnostics Ltd, and Eugenia Herodotou and Marios Alexandrou from EnergyIntel. Their discussion on stage was moderated by the dynamic Christina Karapataki from Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Thanks always to Symeon Tegos for support from the Greek consulate. Day 1 of MIT VMS Outreach Program Mentoring of Mentors Training at MIT! Cyprus Seeds, Maria Markidou Georgiadou, and Margarita Kyprianou are participating in the very successful VMS (Venture Mentoring Service) Mentoring of Mentors training, hosted by MIT. Beyond the Cyprus Seeds program, which supports the commercialization of innovative research, Cyprus Seeds will be launching in Cyprus, at the beginning of next year, yet another a very prestigious MIT program aiming to create a robust pipeline of mentors on the ground, who will be trained by MIT. After 6 years of operating Cyprus Seeds, we are convinced of the huge value of mentoring for the growth of the Cypriot innovation ecosystem. Today was a very special day. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill Aulet the father of Lean Entrepreneurship! Lean Entreoreneurship is a methodology, known also as ‘lean-start-up’ which favours experimentation versus elaborate planning, customer feedback over intuition, and iterative design. This is the methodology which Cyprus Seeds teaches its grantees. Inspired by this MIT program, Cyprus Seeds has incorporated it into its own training program. One of my most productive and rewarding days during my 2 week visit in Cambridge, Boston, was the meetings I had at Suffolk university and the Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School. I had the pleasure of meeting the Dean, Mrs Dr. Amy Z. Zeng and the Associates Dean of Innovation and International relations, Mrs Jodi Detjen, DBA with whom I discussed the enhancement of Cyprus Seeds already existing collaboration with Suffolk Business School to support our projects in their market exploration analysis outside Cyprus. The highlight of the visit at Suffolk was the panel discussion organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship of the university. I was impressed by the attendance of the students who came to hear from professor George Georgiou about the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence, and from me about Cyprus Seeds. Entrepreneurship beyond Boston was the main topic of discussion so, we spoke about challenges of growing a start up. Two startups that spun out of the Suffolk University told us their stories how they made it to series A fundraising! Thank you I. Kim Wang for connecting us to the Suffolk impressive community of innovation and entrepreneurship.

🌍 Cleantech, Global Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Panel 🌱 On November 14th, Cyprus Seeds Managing Director, Maria Markidou Georgiadou, participated in a panel discussion at Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School, in Boston USA, on the topic 'Entrepreneurship beyond Boston'.
