A few weeks ago, we announced the study ‘Enhancing Smart Readiness of Buildings: Bridging the Knowledge Gap to European Citizens’, officially published in the International Journal of Sustainable Energy! 👇🏼Authored by Smart Square Project partners - including us at Cleopa - this research explores how to advance #smartbuilding readiness for a more #sustainable future ♻️🏙️.
🌇 The future of Europe’s building sector is smarter, more sustainable, and within reach! This research dives deep into the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), breaking down barriers to adoption and turning ambitious concepts into real-world practical solutions to enhance the smartness of buildings across Europe. What this study achieves: 📌 Effectively documents and improves the accessibility of SRI for European citizens. 📢 Assesses how energy policies and measures are communicated and understood by EU citizens. 📖 Introduces the SRI FAQ Initiative, a guide that simplifies and clarifies key SRI concepts. 📊 Establishes the SRI Observatory and Annual Outlook, tools to document progress and forecast future developments. 💶 Analyzes funding schemes for smartness upgrades and proposes sustainable financial strategies. 🔍 Provides strategies for continuous monitoring and long-term support to ensure widespread SRI adoption. By tackling accessibility, financial sustainability, and continuous monitoring, this research bridges the gap between policy and practice, empowering stakeholders to drive Europe’s transition to smarter, greener buildings. With collaboration, innovation, and clear policy integration, the findings pave the way for smarter cities and a sustainable future. Do you want to learn more? Research alert!🚨: new publication from the Smart Square Project is out, and we are proud to be among the contributing authors! This new research, titled "Advancing building intelligence: Developing and implementing standardized Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) on-site audit procedure" builds upon the earlier work "Enhancing smart readiness of buildings: Bridging the knowledge gap to European citizens". While the first one laid the foundation for raising awareness about #SRI, this study takes a significant step forward by developing a comprehensive methodology for conducting SRI audits alongside traditional #EN16247 energy audits, with a strong focus on Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS). What's new in here? 🔍 By aligning EN 16247 standards with SRI requirements, the research refines energy audit protocols to evaluate not only energy efficiency but also smart readiness. The results confirm that integrating SRI audits boosts building performance, enhances occupant comfort, and aligns with EU sustainability goals. Key takeaways from the study 🚀: 1️⃣ A standardized SRI audit procedure integrated into EN 16247 energy audits. 2️⃣ Practical steps to assess both energy consumption and readiness to leverage smart technologies. 3️⃣ Validation through pilot audits, proving the method's effectiveness ✅. This achievement is the result of incredible teamwork by our project partners involved in WP4, which focuses on the SRI audit procedure, including Paris Fokaides and Theoklitos Klitou (Euphyia Tech LTD), Pablo Carnero (REHVA), and our Cleopa Communications expert Laura Martinez Garcia, who also leads WP4. A special thanks, once again, go to the memory of Detlef Olschewski who was a valuable contributor of these two studies. Thank you all for your key dedication! 👏🏻 📄 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dfQJ_kWw #SmartBuildings #SmartTools #SRI #BACS #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability

On Tuesday we had our end-of-year breakfast gathering - both onsite and remote ☕ . While our colleague Laura Martinez Garcia joined us remotely from the sunny Canary Islands (lucky her ☀️ ), other members of the team, including our CEO's Bianca Olschewski & Pauliina Harrivaara, Christiana Panteli and Wilma (our Chief Happiness Officer 🐶 ) enjoyed the cozy warmth of the Velten office ❄️ . Sadly, we missed a few Cleopans who were off handling business in the Czech Republic, Italy, and Finland - duty calls, but we'll be sure to send some Christmas cheer their way too! Over coffee and cake (because, let's face it, cakes are basically part of our Cleopa DNA 🍰 ), we reflected on our achievements during a challenging year, discussed our exciting plans for 2025, and celebrated the teamwork and partnerships that drive us forward. A huge thank you to our dedicated colleagues across different countries who work hard to bring the best sustainable and efficient solutions to our clients. Here's to more innovation, collaboration, and cake in the new year! 🥂🎉
