🌍 Launch of the Trend Report 2024: The 8 AI Trends for Inclusive Climate Action We are thrilled to present our Trend Report 2024: "AI for Inclusive Climate Action" – which underscores how Artificial Intelligence (AI), when developed ethically and responsibly, can accelerate the transition to a sustainable and inclusive future through impact entrepreneurship. The Trend Report 2024 project is funded as part of the Nachhaltig Wirken program by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus). 💡8 Ai trends & best practices 1️⃣ Resilient Supply: AI can strengthen supply chain transparency and resilience, reducing risks and increasing accountability. Tools like Tacto, iComplai - Early Warning System for Food Supply Chain, and TrusTrace provide real-time monitoring and early warnings, preventing material shortages and promoting human rights. 2️⃣ Loops, Supercharged: AI can advance the circular economy by optimising recycling and material recovery processes. Innovations like Gainnext’s intelligent waste sorting systems help reduce waste and minimise the demand for raw materials. 3️⃣ Designing Carbon Out: AI, when powered by renewable energy and responsibly managed, drives CO₂ reduction and fosters regenerative solutions. Startups like CinSOIL use AI for soil-based carbon storage, promoting climate-friendly agricultural practices and emission reduction. 4️⃣ Climate Clarity: AI-powered climate simulations and risk models bring the climate crisis into sharper focus. Tools like ClimateGPT visualise local impact, helping decision-makers and communities understand risks and take action through accessible, data-driven insights. 5️⃣ Resource Protector: AI enables precise environmental monitoring, ensuring sustainable use of natural resources. SkoneLabs applies AI to reduce food waste, contributing to more responsible resource management. 6️⃣ Fairer A(I)ccess: To ensure the equitable distribution of AI benefits, tools like Climedo make healthcare innovations more inclusive. By using real-time data from electronic case reports, it accelerates clinical research, addressing disparities and improving outcomes for marginalized groups. 7️⃣ Power to the "Bauer": AI supports farmers with tools like Agcurate, which uses satellite imagery and AI to improve crop monitoring and decision-making. This not only enhances sustainability but also empowers rural communities with solutions for managing risks and increasing yields. 8️⃣ Queering AI: Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of this trend. As promised, we’re sharing key learnings and insights from the Impact Entrepreneurship Forum 2024, starting with one of our most powerful sessions: Courage Amongst Controversies. This session delved into the growing urgency of Corporate Political Responsibility and its critical role in strengthening democracy. Jeannette Gusko, former Co-CEO of CORRECTIV and now part of Robert Habeck's election campaign team, kicked things off with an inspiring keynote, reminding us that democracy isn’t just a "good cause"—it’s a business case. She challenged businesses to: ↗️ Integrate democracy into risk management—a weakening democracy is an existential threat to organisations. ↗️ Step up as role models, using their brand power to inspire action. ↗️ Leverage their unique position to connect diverse perspectives, even in turbulent times. The keynote was followed by a thought-provoking fishbowl discussion, featuring: Nicole Loeser (Institute of Art & Innovation) on engaging citizens through art. Melanie Ohnemus (TikTok DACH) on platform responsibility in democratic discourse. Roland Greifeld (Civocracy) on citizen engagement and campaigning. Together, they explored how organisations can navigate political complexities and strengthen democracy. The message was clear: politics and civil society can’t do it alone—it’s time for businesses to lead. 🚀 Let’s keep the conversation going—Corporate Political Responsibility matters now more than ever.
