On Sunday, December 1, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) took place for the first time at the JDZB. We are pleased to have welcomed 215 examinees. Thank you for your participation! The JLPT is a standardized exam to assess the Japanese language skills of non-native speakers and takes place simultaneously in all 47 prefectures of Japan and abroad. Last year, more than 1.2 million examinees in 92 countries took the test. The JLPT is conducted by the The Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services in cooperation with local host institutions. #JLPT #LearnJapanese #JapaneseLanguage #NextLevel

We are pleased to announce that the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI was able to establish a direct video connection between Berlin and Tokyo in an immersive „8K-quality“. The Japanese-German Center Berlin (JDZB) is now equipped with the modern video conferencing technology that will allow digital and hybrid events in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Tokyo|ゲーテ・インスティトゥート東京 and the German East Asiatic Society (OAG), both housed in the so-called "German Cultural Center" in Tokyo. This new technical possibility will help bringing international exchange to a new level. Please refer to our press release for more information. One of the many beautiful aspects of our #OpenMonday is the mixture of changing offers and our recurring partner events. This time, we showed the Japanese comedy “Mondays: See You ‘This’ Week!”, produced by Ryō Takebayashi in 2022. Many thanks to our partners The Japan Foundation, Ikebana International Berlin, the German-Japanese Association Berlin, to KIRIN for the beer sponsoring and to Umé for the delicious Japanese food! We were particularly pleased about the words of appreciation from our Foundation Council Member Gerda Meuer, who had just freshly returned from the German-Japanese Forum and spontaneously dropped by for our #OpenMonday. Save the Date: Our next #OpenMonday will take place on the 2nd December and will be dedicated to the topic “language learning”. For example, there will be a calligraphy demonstration and you will be able to find out more about our language courses, which you will soon be able to register for. More information on the event will follow shortly. #OpenMonday #AfterWork #NextLevel
