🖐🏽Violence affects one in three women worldwide in the course of their lives. From this International Day for the Elimination of #Violence against #Women, we want to shine a spotlight on gender-based violence - a global problem that affects millions of women at home, at work and online. The next 16 days, it's time to stand together, raise awareness and create change. #NOEXCUSE #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #JohanniterInternationalAssistance #ViolenceAgainstWomen

🏅 We are very happy! The journalist Tobias Dammers has been awarded the Humanitarian Aid Journalism Prize by Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V. and the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany. Together with our colleague Birte Kötter and Dirk Bathe from World Vision Deutschland, Tobias was in #SouthSudan in April to visit our and the projects of World Vision. In his multimedia report, Tobias highlights the importance of humanitarian aid abroad and the dangers that further cuts in Germany will pose for this aid. You can watch the report here: https://lnkd.in/dvdD3yaQ Congratulations! 😀 Pictures: Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V. /Mälek Sayadi

😢 Today marks 1000 days of full scale war in #Ukraine. Since 24 February 2022, tens of thousands of men, women and children have already died in this cruel war, millions have been displaced, entire regions, villages and cities have been destroyed. It is not easy to find #hope here, just look at the last few days. The drone attacks on numerous cities at the weekend were among the heaviest since the beginning of the war. Once again, residential buildings and vital infrastructure were hit. In #Odessa, in the south-east of the country, ten people died and dozens were injured. The windows in the office of our partner organisation NEW DAWN were also shattered by the nearby impact. And yet there are moments of hope in the midst of this relentless war. Our partners continue to travel daily to the villages and towns near the front line and evacuate people or bring them vital relief supplies. The delivery of firewood and briquettes for the winter is also in full swing. ❤️ The Ukrainians are braving the cold, the daily power cuts and the constant air strikes with impressive courage and confidence. Together with our Ukrainian partner organisations, we continue to stand firmly by their side. ❤️ #1000days

Four #tropicalstorms in four weeks have struck the #Philippines, with no end in sight. Strong winds, heavy rains, and storm surges have devastated the livelihoods of countless people. Villages have been evacuated, and homes and crops destroyed, impacting millions. Storms are common in the region during this season, but #climatechange is causing them to form closer to the coast and intensify more rapidly. Together with our partner #PCDR (Panay center for disaster response) and their networks, we are preparing #emergencyaid for evacuees to provide them with essential supplies.

📍 #Gaza - Medical care in the #GazaStrip has been severely limited since the beginning of the war. Many clinics have been destroyed and the supply of medicines is very difficult. This is a life-threatening situation, especially for patients with chronic illnesses who need regular #medicalcare. Our partner ST. JOHN OF JERUSALEM EYE HOSPITAL continues to provide mobile clinics for people suffering from eye diseases as best they can. Fortunately, after the first phase of simple treatments, laser treatments and an important drug to combat macula degeneration are back in use. Patients report how the treatments have helped them.

Update to our project in #Syria with Bahar Organization Here we support Syrians in a Cash-For-Work-Programme
Bahar Organization distributed the first batch of wages for workers involved in the "Olive Harvest" project under the "Cash-for-Work" initiative. Each worker received $110 after completing the designated 22-day work period. This project, aimed at supporting the local community and creating job opportunities for its members, was launched in the Sheikh Al-Hadid and Rajo areas, engaging 240 trained workers. Specialized training was provided to all workers to ensure that tasks were carried out with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Contracts were signed with each worker for a 44-day period, with a daily work schedule of 5 hours and a set daily wage. This project is part of Bahar Organization’s efforts to strengthen livelihoods for communities affected by the earthquake, providing dignified job opportunities. Through the "Cash-for-Work" initiative, the organization seeks to offer employment for impacted communities, stimulate the local economy, increase citizens’ purchasing power, and support local markets. #BaharOrganization #OliveHarvest #CashForWork #JobOpportunities #CommunitySupport #LivelihoodSupport #LocalEconomy #SheikhAlHadidRajo #Olives #HumanitarianWork Johanniter International Assistance

#Ukraine: ❄️Winter is coming and this one will be particularly hard for Ukrainians. Due to the targeted attacks on energy infrastructure, many will have no heating and little or no electricity this winter. Without electricity there will also be no running water as electrical pumps don’t work. 🤝 This is why we have started working with our partners New Dawn and Eleos to deliver 🪵firewood and 🏠isolation materials for destroyed houses. The partners also provide corrugated iron sheets for the roofs and repair broken windows. In addition, we support rural communities with generators to get water from the wells. All these activities are only possible thanks to your donations and the support of the Hertie-Foundation. 😍 Gemeinnützige Hertie-Stiftung. Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe

Support for people in #Lebanon: More than a million people have had to leave their homes due to attacks and are on the run. Many of them arrive in the Beirut region. Together with our local #partner Naba'a, we support them there with mattresses and warm sleeping bags for the night and distribute food and cash. #humanitarianaid #displacedpeople #partnership
