HAPPY NEW YEAR - FIG Newsletter December 2024: I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for the upcoming year 2025. A very big thanks to all who have contributed to FIG during 2024 whether it is through a Commission, Network, Task Force or by attending one of the many events that have been held throughout the year - especially FIG Working Week 2024 in Accra, Ghana and the FIG Regional Conference in Nepal. Your involvement and efforts keep FIG vibrant, relevant and at the forefront of empowering surveyors, geospatial experts, valuers, and related professions to create meaningful change and make the world a better place. It makes me very proud to be part of such an organisation and profession! A special thanks goes to all Chairs, Council Members, Local Organising Committees and other key individuals who drive these many initiatives, led competently and passionately by FIG President Diane Dumashie. Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be another exciting year for FIG, filled with opportinities to connect, network and contribute to impactful initiatives and projects. FIG Newsletter November 2024: Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, with significant implications for land use, property values, and tenure security, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities. A Call to Action was created during the FIG Regional Conference in Nepal, providing insights and tools to enhance the role of surveyors, property valuers, and land practitioners in addressing climate change and disaster resilience. Although focused on Asia, the Call to Action offers practical insights for global use, emphasizing the critical role of land professionals in safeguarding land rights, promoting sustainable land governance, and addressing climate impacts. The Call to Action is a valuable resource for governments and decision-makers showcasing how land practitioners and related professions can contribute effectively. We encourage members and others to share the Call to Action nationally. This newsletter includes several important deadlines, too, for submission of paper for the Working Week 2025, nomination of candidates for the Commissions and the call for bid for FIG Working Week 2029: https://lnkd.in/dvwqFKQb
