🌟 At the end of a packed afternoon at our ‘Towards A Space-Powered Economy’ conference, we’ve been inspired by pitches from 20 companies showcasing projects which will make use of satellite technologies and data in sustainable solutions for our planet. Our judging panel, Rita Rinaldo, Head of Applications, Studies and Projects Division, European Space Agency - ESA, Agata Bendik, Senior Programme Manager, Plug and Play UK, Simon Atkinson, Advisor, Prototypes for Humanity and Kemil Thomas, Principal Partnerships Manager, UCL Innovation & Enterprise now have the unenviable task of selecting the pitch which demonstrated the highest overall impact, taking into account economic, societal and environmental impact. To round off the day, Ian Forbes, Managing Partner for Europe and the Middle East, The Artemis Partnership shared his valuable insights into ‘What it Takes to Win Major Pitches’. 💻 Recently the MegaBITS Advisory Group met virtually, with five members presenting their projects related to Intelligent Transport Systems. The aim was to share knowledge and explore the latest developments in cycling technologies. So, something new on agenda, oh yes. In a weeks time our BIKE eco-system has been short-listed for the pitch competition at the European Space Agency - ESA event: "Towards a space-based economy" (https://lnkd.in/dSAcaUeP) So what is a bicycle data based eco-system doing at a space event, you might ask yourself? Simple enough: our eco-system is aimed at leveraging the data generated by moving bicycles into tangible Bicycle Insights, Knowledge, and Evaluation (BIKE). This data is the time and positions of the bicycles as they move in the infrastructure - in our case GNSS based positioning, SATNAV, or PNT dependent on your technical flavour. The point is, that with out the satellites emitting their signals far far away from us we don't really have an idea on where the bicycle is. Yes, sure. We can setup a million and a half road side units to trace every single one of them for a limited area....but.... I guarantee you it is drastically more efficient to use devices on bikes and the signals from the satellites empowered by a collaborate revenue sharing eco-system - the BIKE eco-system. That will enable decision makers access to data where the bicycles are, when they are there, independent on road side investments. Cool right :-)

💪 Our Project Manager Samuel Pierce attended the NAPCORE Mobility Data Days in Turin last week! 🛣 NAPCORE, National Access Point Coordination Organisation for Europe, is the organisation coordinating and harmonising more than 30 mobility data platforms across Europe and is a key player in cycling data standardization. 💻 The event was attended by a full and energetic audience who participated in putting forward use cases and data types needed for future standards in cycling infrastructure, real-time data and parking. We are active across the entire data scope from real tangible data to the theoretical work around standardization and harmonisation. Always interesting to extend the cycling bubble to new playing fields.

Reaching the other end of a very interesting congress here in Dubai, we have just completed (IMHO) the most important session of the congress - "SIS 98: floating bicycle data". Thanks to Christina Mose, Itir Coskun, and Dominic Paulo for joining me to make this a super interesting session. Good questions and dialogue with the audience shows that this topic is highly relevant. #MEGABits, #napcore, and #bicyclistsafety was obviously also mentioned. Here we go. First session first day. yes, it's on AI. Clear messages, get the data right, get the right experts (me/us), and it is not a toy, it's a tool - don't use it if if just messes up stuff and is way to expensive.

Wow. Moving into a different space! Joost VANTOMME, CEO of Ertico co-hosting the ITS World congress right now in Dubai just used the word "Bicycles" in his opening statements. Generally on digital twins, but including this usually blind angle in traffic data so directly is a new step.
